Bad Deeds Bring Consequences—A Common Theme From Ancient Times to Today

March 27, 2026 |   By Lin Changqing

(Minghui.org) Doing good deeds brings blessings, while committing wrongdoings leads to consequences—a principle well-rooted in Chinese civilization. The Shangshu (Book of Documents) states, “A person who does good receives all kinds of blessings; a person who does evil suffers all kinds of disasters.”

According to the Old Book of Tang, Guo Ba was known as a cruel official. He once wrongly accused officer Li Sizheng and tortured him until Li died. After that, Guo was frequently haunted by dreams of Li, which deeply disturbed him. In response, he invited monks to recite sutras and hosted a vegetarian feast in the hope of finding peace.

Not long after, Guo dreamed that Li arrived at his residence accompanied by dozens of horsemen. “You framed me unjustly back then. I am here today to kill you,” Li declared. Guo then took a knife and disemboweled himself. Shortly after his death, his abdomen festered and swarmed with maggots.

On that very day, neighbors reported seeing dozens of cavalrymen stopping there, who vanished soon after.

Numerous Innocent Lives

Such incidents have persisted until the present day. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999, many officials complied and acted against their conscience. As a result, a large number of practitioners were detained, imprisoned, and tortured. Their family members also endured extreme hardship.

Wang Jizhong, director of the 610 Office in Laoting County, Hebei Province, was such an officer. Under his direction, several practitioners were imprisoned. Among them was Mr. Li Xuyou, who earned a living by pedaling a tricycle for passengers or transporting goods. At the same time, he cared for his paralyzed wife. Despite these difficulties, Mr. Li was well respected in the neighborhood because of his positive attitude and manners based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

However, Mr. Li was arrested by Wang for practicing Falun Gong and detained in Laoting Detention Center, followed by a four-year sentence in Jidong Prison. The severe mental stress and lack of appropriate care this caused his wife led to her tragic death.

Ms. Xing Yue had been frequently ill since childhood; however, all her illnesses disappeared after she began practicing Falun Gong. As a result of her practice, she became a dedicated teacher who was well-liked by her students. However, in April 2010, 28-year-old Ms. Xing was detained and sentenced to three years' imprisonment. Her daughter cried every day asking for her mother’s return, and Ms. Xing’s mother constantly begged Wang to release her daughter, only to be refused each time. Heartbroken by the family’s separation, her mother passed away after a few months.

Mr. Zheng Hongbo was arrested in May 2003 and sentenced to three years in a labor camp. During his time in prison, he was subjected to various torture methods, including guards stabbing bamboo splinters under all 10 of his fingernails. His body was bloodied all over from the torture meted out to him. When Mr. Zeng’s father became critically ill, his mother repeatedly pleaded for Mr. Zheng to see his father one last time. Wang refused, and in the end, his father passed away without saying goodbye to his son.

Tragic Consequences

Seeing Wang continue to harm innocent people, practitioners were concerned and explained the facts of Falun Gong, urging him to stop participating in the persecution. Wang dismissed their concerns and shouted, “What are you talking about? I do not believe in retribution. See, I am living very well!” When Mr. Li refused to stop and kept explaining the facts, Wang collaborated with other officers and handed Mr. Li a heavier sentence.

Even Wang’s father-in-law was affected. Once while out for a walk, a practitioner approached him to talk about Falun Gong. “Do you know who I am,” the old man shouted. “I am the father-in-law of Wang Jizhong, a 610 Office director. We will round you all up. How dare you talk to me about that!” Not long after, his son (Wang’s cousin) died, leaving behind twin daughters.

On March 1, 2015, Wang visited friends in his hometown. While riding his bike down the street, he was hit by a car. His head was split open, and he died instantly from heavy bleeding. Soon after, Wang’s father-in-law died at home due to a cerebral hemorrhage.

We sincerely wish everyone a healthy and safe life. However, for those who blindly follow the CCP and persecute innocent Falun Gong practitioners, consequences are sure to happen.
