(Minghui.org) May 13, 2026, is the 27th World Falun Dafa Day. Mayor Mark Sutcliffe of the City of Ottawa proclaimed “May 2026, Falun Dafa Month in Ottawa.” This is the 15th year that Ottawa has issued a proclamation to mark the occasion.

The proclamation in both English and French reads, “WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is a spiritual practice involving meditation and personal cultivation, followed by individuals in Ottawa and around the world, and forms part of the diverse cultural and spiritual fabric of the community, with practitioners engaging in activities related to personal well-being and personal development; and

“WHEREAS, May 2026 marks the 34th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public; and

“WHEREAS, individuals in Ottawa who practice Falun Dafa come from a wide range of backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of the city; and

“WHEREAS, Falun Dafa Month provides an opportunity to recognize this community and its contributions to the cultural diversity of Ottawa, and is marked by community-based activities and observances.”

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has escalated its suppression outside China and targets Falun Gong practitioners in Canada and across the world. In May 2026, 19 Members of Parliament participated in the Falun Dafa Day celebration with practitioners outside the parliament building in Ottawa. Elected officials at each level of government also recognize the occasion by raising flags, writing letters, and issuing proclamations.

The officials commend practitioners for upholding their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and for their contributions to local communities. They praised the practitioners’ perseverance when facing the CCP’s long-term persecution. They expressed their support for Falun Gong and condemned the CCP’s persecution and transnational repression. They reminded people about the CCP’s extension of the persecution and urged Canada to take action to counter it.
