Mexican Senator Juanita Guerra Mena saw Shen Yun and presented a formal recognition to the company at their performance in Mexico City on May 3.

“As a Federal Senator, I am pleased and deeply honored to welcome you to Mexico on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Shen Yun Artistic Company, bringing to our country the essence of Chinese culture and classical dance,” the recognition stated.

The recognition congratulated the company for “persevering year after year in enriching the artistic and musical life of our city and country, as well as the lives of all our citizens,” and expressed gratitude to the artists “for bringing hope to millions of people around the world during this 2026 tour.”

After watching Shen Yun, Ms. Guerra singled out the dancers, saying they demonstrate “with love what they reflect on stage.” She encouraged them to continue sharing their art with the same “heart given to them by that divine being, that supreme being.

“I hope all human beings give themselves the opportunity to transmit emotion through art, so that we may all have harmony, peace, sensitivity, and, above all, treat one another with respect and love.

“Each act of kindness, each story told in such a magnificent cultural way—with music, art, dance, and divinity—shows us that human beings can connect with something supreme that can open our hearts,” she said. “What is most beautiful is the kindness we show to others and the kindness others show to us.”

She remarked on how the performance guided audiences through more than 5,000 years of Chinese civilization “in a chronological way,” from ancient times to present-day China.

She said that, by the end of the performance, audience members would likely leave “very happy, with a spirit of service, a spirit of moving forward, realizing that things can always be achieved as long as you know what you want to do and, above all, act with kindness toward others.”

As Shen Yun celebrates its 20th anniversary, Ms. Guerra expressed hope that the company would continue its mission of reviving China’s ancient culture through art year after year.

“In all the countries you visit, and among all the cultures you encounter, there is one thing that unites us: love for our fellow human beings and kindness toward one another. Even after thousands of years, even with ancient cultures and difficult times in some places, harmony, peace, kindness, and above all love for the divine and for the supreme being must always prevail.”

Ms. Guerra also said Shen Yun added to her “personal growth.”

“The feelings that blossom in this performance of art and ancient culture allow us to experience many emotions,” she said, “but above all, they transmit those feelings into our real lives.”

The senator said she respects all cultures and believes that “we are all connected to a supreme being and to love among one another.”

Inviting people throughout Mexico to experience Shen Yun and learn more about Chinese culture, she said that understanding and respecting different cultures allows people to recognize one another as “brothers and sisters” and to live in harmony and kindness.

“From One to 10, I Would Say It’s an 11”

Sascha Herr (NTD)

Sascha Herr, a member of the Hessian State Parliament, saw Shen Yun in Frankfurt, Germany, on May 2.

“It was beautiful, really, from beginning to end. The musical accompaniment was excellent. The costumes, the dance performance, the coordination between the dancers and the background—everything fit together perfectly. It was truly a complete success overall,” Mr. Herr said.

“The message of compassion definitely came across to me. I definitely think it’s important to keep reminding ourselves of history and to always hold onto it.

“Everything just fits perfectly. I think I will still be talking about it at home for days and weeks.

“From one to 10, I would say it’s an 11,” Mr. Herr said.

“I Had Tears in My Eyes at the End”

James Bruneau (NTD)

James Bruneau, mayor of Sermaises in the Loiret department and president of the Pithiverais Community of Municipalities, saw Shen Yun in Paris on May 3, accompanied by about 30 residents of his town. They chartered a bus for the occasion.

“I wasn’t bored for a single minute... It’s truly magnificent, and I think the performers are absolutely amazing,” Mr. Bruneau said after the performance.

Drawn to China for several years—particularly because of his son’s professional experience in Hong Kong—he discovered an art form that goes beyond mere entertainment.

“I’m very moved... I had tears in my eyes at the end,” he said, referring in particular to the power of the final scene.

“I find that Chinese culture is very close to nature and to human beings... All the dancers are kind to one another and to nature,” he said.

As he left the room, the mayor described a deep sense of calm: “I feel good. I feel at peace... rested.”

To him, the performance showcases “the beauty of the landscapes, the beauty of human beings,” as well as “human beings’ capacity to surpass themselves.”

“I’m ready to come back next year,” he said.

He also pointed out that the other people on the bus shared his enthusiasm: “Everyone really, really enjoyed it... It’s wonderful.”

“I invite everyone to come see this truly wonderful show,” he added.

“I Feel Very Emotional”

Mariana Dourado Prates (NTD)

Mariana Dourado Prates, department director of an international consulting company, saw Shen Yun in São Paulo on May 2.

“Shen Yun is magnificent and extraordinary. So beautiful. Those excellent skills, precision, aesthetics, fluidity, and high degree of overall coordination—absolutely extraordinary,” she said.

“I feel very emotional. At the same time, I also feel a kind of emotional solace and peace. Because I noticed that, in fact, no matter where you are, the core values that people talk about are consistent—whether it is faith, spirituality, or pursuit of divinity. I think Shen Yun thoroughly presented these, which deeply moved me. ‘Moved’ is the most apt adjective.

“I want to say to Shen Yun’s Artistic Director that Shen Yun performances are extremely remarkable and please … continue for a long time. Bring this kind of culture to other countries, especially the places where Eastern culture has yet to be widespread. It is very meaningful and important,” she said.

“Captivates You Throughout”

Jeffrey Donner and Rosemary Varga (NTD)

Attorney Jeffrey Donner and his wife, Rosemary Varga, a businesswoman, saw Shen Yun in Newark, New Jersey, on May 1.

“I think the coordination of the elements of the show are unbelievable. The background and how it interacts with live action back and forth—it’s just incredible,” Mr. Donner said.

“The dances are intricate, they’re interesting, and the music is great and just captivates you throughout. What really amazed me was that one where the old man turned to the young man right before my eyes. That I can’t figure out.

“The gymnastic elements—the jumping and the back flips and the forward flips—I recognize how difficult that is and how they repeatedly do it,” he said.

Mr. Donner also appreciated the artists’ depiction of heaven and the divine. He noticed “some great similarities” between the spiritual practices of the East and West.

“There’s a central creative force which is akin to God that we believe in. The values and the virtues are very similar; they’re parallel,” he said. “At first look, [Chinese spirituality] may seem foreign to Western thought, but in many ways, it’s very similar.”

For Ms. Varga, one of the most memorable pieces was a story-based dance highlighting the ongoing persecution of people of faith in China.

“I’m just so upset that ... so many people aren’t even aware of what’s going on. I’m trying to spread the word about what’s going on in China. I think [the persecution] is horrible because [its traditional culture] is beautiful ... The dynasties and the tradition and the women, everything was so beautiful,” she said.

“China has suppressed all the beautiful things that China represented back in the day, and they’re persecuting these people and harvesting their organs and everything. It’s just criminal, so I’m trying to spread the word, and I hope that eventually it will end,” she said.

“We are both morally disgusted by what the Chinese communist government does to its people,” Mr. Donner added. Most people don’t know about what’s going on in China. Shen Yun “is an entry for them to learn.”

“Extremely Meaningful”

Gérard Hommage (NTD)

Gérard Hommage, the general manager of a French company, saw Shen Yun in Toulouse on April 29. He saw Shen Yun previously in 2019.

“The performance was extremely exquisite and extraordinarily magnificent. The choreography was truly breathtaking. The colors were gorgeous. The dancers were outstanding—without a doubt. The orchestra was exceptional. The entire performance was excellent,” he said.

“The divinity presented in the performance was also crucial. I appreciate that very much!

“Shen Yun is inspiring, and indeed uplifting. You can say that Shen Yun sent a message, and we could feel it. For those people who can understand, realize, and accept this message, [Shen Yun] can open the great gate to divinity and allow people to observe the universe’s way, knowledge, and patterns, which are ultimately everything that rules over us. This is great. I think this is extremely meaningful. People must pay attention and stay curious,” he said.
