(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 35 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhu Chonghua was arrested at home on July 8, 2025, and has since been held at the Yaziquan Women’s Detention Center. She was scheduled to have her second hearing by the Yilan County Court on May 7, 2026.
Ms. Wang Hongying was arrested on April 15, 2026. She was issued a formal arrest warrant around April 30.
Mr. Wang Fangliang was arrested in Beijing on April 27, 2026.
Ms. Liang Jun and Ms. Hong Yanrong were arrested on July 14, 2023, and later sentenced to prison by the Funing District Court at an unknown time. Ms. Hong has since been released from the Hebei Province Women’s Prison, and Ms. Liang is still serving time in the prison. Ms. Liang has also filed a motion to reconsider her wrongful sentence with the Hebei Provincial High Court.
Ms. Meng Qingling was sentenced to one year and three months in prison in November 2024.
Mr. Wang Jianying, 82, was arrested at home in 2024 along with his sister, Ms. Wang Yuying. The siblings were detained in the Gongzhuling City Detention Center. The sister died in the detention center on September 20, 2024. While Mr. Wang was released around September 24, 2024, he was arrested again on July 1, 2025, and returned to the Gongzhuling Detention Center. He was later sentenced to five years in prison and is now serving time in the Gongzhuling Prison. His family went to the prison multiple times to visit him, but were denied visitation each time.
Ms. Zeng Youhui, in her 70s, was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in early April 2026. Her home was ransacked three times by local community staff members and Lijiang Police Station officers. The police forced her husband and daughter to destroy her Falun Gong books during the third raid.
Ms. Lin Youhua, 82, was shopping for shoes when four men forcibly searched her bag. They arrested her upon finding informational materials about Falun Gong. It is unknown where she is being detained.
Ms. Hao Cunlan was harassed by two officers from the Anjiabao Township Police Station on April 24, 2026. They took photos of her and tore down a wall poster.
Sixteen practitioners were arrested on April 15, 2026, by officers from the Changjiang New Area Police Department.
Six of them, including Wang (first name unknown), Zuo Cuihua, Sun Fang, Tu Jianping, Zhang Pingyu, and Cheng Baomei, were released later that day.
Nine practitioners, including Shen Baozhi, Yu Yin’ai, Zhang Fengxia, Mr. Tao Lei and his wife, Ms. Guo Lizhen, Wang Youmei, Tong Shuying, Wu Guihong, and Lin Yong, were placed under a 15-day detention.
After 15 days, on April 30, 2026, Wang Youmei, Tong, and Wu were transferred to the Wuhan City First Detention Center. Mr. Tao, his wife, Ms. Guo, and Lin were taken to a brainwashing center, and Shen, Yu, and Zhang were released.
Xiao’s situation isn’t clear.
Ms. Yang Meiqin, 78, Liang, Wang, and three other practitioners were arrested on April 24, 2026. Ms. Yang has since been released. Liang and the other three practitioners were taken to the Pudong Detention Center. Wang’s situation is unknown.
Ms. Zhang Chunxiang was arrested at home and taken to the police department on April 29, 2026. The police confiscated some Falun Gong lectures and a few media players. Ms. Zhang was released in the evening.
Ms. Gao Yan, 58, was recorded by surveillance cameras while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Jiumen Township Market on April 24, 2026. She was arrested later that day and her home was ransacked. She later fell into a coma due to unknown reasons and was taken to a hospital for resuscitation. She was released on bail on April 30.
Ms. Liu Cuilan, 56, and Ms. Chen Baoqiong, 84, went to a community market together on April 11, 2026. They were arrested on the way back and taken to a police station. They were released around midnight.
