The Importance of Looking Inward

May 21, 2026 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I went out with another practitioner, Jia, to distribute information about Falun Dafa. We asked Master to bless and protect us before we left. We distributed materials every day, even during the Chinese New Year holiday, and everything went smoothly. My fear gradually diminished. However, we recently encountered an incident that I’d like to share with everyone.

That day, Jia rode her electric bike ahead of me, while I followed on my bicycle. When we noticed two migrant workers resting by the roadside, we stopped. Jia took out a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Partyand handed it to them. I saw a patrol officer on a motorcycle pull over nearby and he started walking toward us. I tried to warn Jia not to distribute the materials, but it was too late.

I silently asked Master for protection and calmly approached the officer, blocking his view so he would not see what Jia was doing. I also asked Master to have the officer leave so he would not interfere with us. He turned around and rode away on his motorcycle. I was deeply grateful for Master’s protection. Throughout the entire incident, I experienced no fear, and I believed this was the power of Dafa. Because our actions aligned with Dafa, Master resolved the tribulation for us.

When I reflected on what happened that day I recalled that Jia asked me where we should go. Without hesitation, I answered, “North.” Jia replied, “You’re the boss—I’ll follow your lead.” She later reminded me that when problems arise we should look inward. At first, I thought she was joking, but then I thought such things should not be taken lightly. In fact, I realized I did not truly know how to look inward.

We later shared our experience with three other practitioners. One practitioner asked me, “Do you feel pleased when someone calls you ‘boss’?” I honestly answered, “Yes.” I realized I had a strong attachment to fame.

Another practitioner asked, “Do you feel that you cultivate better than Jia?” After thinking for a moment, I said, “Yes, that’s true.” I realized I still had attachments to feeling superior and being self-satisfied. This was very serious interference.

The last practitioner reminded me, “If you make a mistake, you must correct it. Find your attachments and promptly negate and correct them. Don’t leave them there, otherwise they will bring trouble and tribulations to your cultivation. You might even fall, and all your cultivation will be in vain! It’s too dangerous! You should send forth righteous thoughts immediately to completely disintegrate and eliminate them.”

I will study the Fa diligently, assimilate myself to the Fa, truly cultivate, and return home with Master. Thank you, fellow practitioners, for your selfless help.
