(Minghui.org) A woman in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, was admitted to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on November 27, 2025, to serve a 3.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Wang Haiyuan was arrested in September 2024, after a surveillance camera recorded her distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, which has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999. Officers from the Dongan Police Station raided her home. She was released on bail on the same day.

The police later submitted Ms. Wang’s case to the Sartu District Procuratorate. They also harassed her on a regular basis. An officer called her in May 2025 and ordered her to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply.

The police seized Ms. Wang at her workplace around 5 p.m. on June 3, 2025. She called her husband at 7 p.m. to say that she was taken to the Daqing City Detention Center. She held a hunger strike in protest at one point.

Ms. Wang stood trial at the Sartu District Court on September 25, 2025. The judge initially barred her husband from attending, but relented after he protested. Ms. Wang wasn’t allowed to talk during the trial. The judge sentenced her to three and a half years and fined her 30,000 yuan.

Ms. Wang appealed with the Daqing City Intermediate Court in October 2025, and received a ruling against her weeks later. She was transferred to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on November 27, 2025.

Because Ms. Wang was denied visits with her family, they only learned about her prison transfer when her lawyer went to the detention center to inquire about her situation on December 10. Five days later her family received a letter from the prison, notifying them that Ms. Wang started serving time there.

Ms. Wang’s sentence dealt a hard blow to her husband. His hair turned gray overnight. Due to his busy work schedule, he had to ask his elderly parents to help care for his two young children.
