(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Sydney, Australia, held a group exercise event at Wentworth Park next to the Sydney Fish Market on May 9, 2026, to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.

The Sydney Fish Market, which is next to Wentworth Park, is on the waterfront in the Glebe district, only about two kilometers (a little over a mile) away from Sydney’s central business district .

The fish market holds the unique status of being a destination that combines the Southern Hemisphere’s largest seafood market, a globally significant hub for fish trading, and a premier culinary destination. After the opening of its new facility this January, the Sydney Fish Market attracted more than one million visitors in just two months. Its unique waterfront design was also named one of the “World’s Greatest Places of 2026” by Time magazine, establishing it as a world-class landmark on par with the Sydney Opera House. A significant number of international tourists who visit the market are from China and other Asian countries.

Many people who spoke with practitioners during the celebratory activities on May 9 said that Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are very important, especially in the world today.

Practitioners hung banners, talked with passersby, did the Falun Dafa exercises, and played audio recordings.

Shanna, a passerby, said that scene of practitioners doing the exercises together was very peaceful.

When a practitioner told her that Falun Dafa’s principles are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, Shanna said, “They are very important, especially for society today.” She noted that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) not only persecutes Falun Gong, they also persecute minority groups in China.

Ms. Bai, a practitioner who has talked to people about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China at the Sydney Fish Market information site for many years, said “The Falun Dafa information site by the Sydney Fish Market has been here for 10 years—since 2016.”

Ms. Bai said the information site was set up there because she lives nearby and had thought it would be a good place to raise awareness to people from China: “I drove by the fish market and saw that there were many Chinese tourists, so I thought of applying to set up an information site here.

“The response has been very good,” she said. “Many Chinese tourists have learned about Falun Gong from us. Some of them have thanked us for being here so that they could find out all these things, some said that they know people who practice Falun Gong and are being persecuted in China, while others have said that they only learned that so many people around the world practice after they came on a tour. Many people who live here have also come to learn the practice,” she said.

During these 10 years, many people have learned about Falun Dafa at this information site. Some have asked Falun Dafa practitioners to help them access Minghui.org on their mobile phones, and some have downloaded Zhuan Falun so they could start to learn the practice when they got home. Many people have taken copies of the Nine Commentaries and other truth-clarification materials and agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Quite a few have taken photos of the banner, saying that they wanted to show it to their relatives and friends back home.

For World Falun Dafa Day, which falls on May 13, Ms. Bai said, “Thank you, Master! I have been cultivating Falun Dafa since 1999 and have always been able to sense Master’s benevolent protection.

“It was only due to Master’s protection that I was able to get through the most difficult and darkest days of my life, such as when I was facing a family crisis. No matter how big the tribulation is, as long as I remember I have Master and Dafa in my heart, I will overcome it.”
