(Minghui.org) I’m in my 50s. Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance improved my moral character, and I’m now sincere, kind and tolerant. I benefited both physically and mentally from practicing Falun Dafa. I’d like to tell you how my neighbors and coworkers also benefited.
There were many employees in my company, and the environment was complicated. My coworkers loved to gossip. They were also competitive and did not let themselves be taken advantage of. I didn’t join in their gossip. I treated everyone kindly. Whenever there was tension or a conflict, I looked within to find my attachment. I talked to my coworkers and apologized if I was wrong. I worked hard without regard for personal gain or loss.
A coworker was about to be transferred to another department, and I was asked to take over his work. I had to do two jobs at the same time, but I wouldn’t be compensated. As a practitioner, I didn’t complain but respected the manager’s arrangement. I took over the job, and I worked hard.
Our company was later reformed. First, all managers were re-recruited internally. Then, the new manager would recruit his/her employees within the company. The managers and employees could make a choice. Some coworkers were not recruited by any managers. I was recruited by several managers. I chose the department I preferred, and my story caused a stir in our company.
I was forced to leave my company due to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa. My coworker Jia (alias) left the company and set up her own business. When she learned that I was looking for a job, she called me and asked me to work for her. We seldom communicated with each other before.
When I saw her, she said, “I know Falun Dafa practitioners are honest and don’t take advantage of others. They have high moral standards. My husband knew a leader. Someone tried to bribe him with 10,000 yuan. He said that he wouldn’t take it because he practiced Falun Dafa. But he used to accept bribes before he practiced Falun Dafa.” Jia had some understanding of Falun Dafa, and she saw how I behaved when we worked for the other company. So, she asked me to work for her.
Because it was a new company, I started from the beginning. I gradually set up rules and regulations as well as a management system. I was in charge of administration while Jia was in charge of accounting. The two bosses said I was kind, reliable, honest, and worked hard and methodically. They decided to let me do the accounting. I never did accounting before, and I wasn’t good at numbers. I was afraid of making mistakes. They asked me to learn while I worked. They said they could relax if I did the accounting. So, I took over the accounting job.
I had to handle the accounting and cashier duties myself. It’s a big taboo for the same person to handle cash and accounting. In a private company, normally the boss looks after the accounts or asks trusted relatives to do this. It is very rare that the boss asks an outsider to look after accounts and cash. But Jia said that she didn’t trust her relatives, but she did trust me. She asked me to take good care of the back door (referring to account jobs) for her.
As the business grew, they set up several other companies. I looked after the accounts of all these companies. Jia’s friend reminded her that there might be issues if one person were in charge of all the accounting work. Jia told him that she trusted me because I was a person with faith. During my stay in the company for so many years, not a single problem was found in accounting or cash handling.
On top of administration and accounting work, I also took care of logistics and purchasing. An everyday person would regard my position as lucrative. As a practitioner, I was not moved by material interest. I did not take money from the company, and I did not take advantage of other people.
I requested invoices when I made purchases. When the business owner asked me what amount they should place on the invoice, I always asked them to charge the actual amount. I knew many people asked the owner to place a higher amount than the actual cost on the invoice so that the company would reimburse them more. The business owners were willing to issue a higher amount to attract clients.
Some printer maintenance shops gave their clients kickbacks in order to keep doing business with them. They increase the price they charge for the supplies, so the companies have to pay more. I never did this. I told the maintenance shops to issue the invoice according to the actual cost.
If I found mistakes when I checked the purchase orders against the invoices, I notified the business owners that they had invoiced us a lesser amount. If I didn’t tell them, my company would have paid a lesser amount. But as a practitioners, I should be honest and not take advantage of their mistakes. Nowadays, it is not easy to do business. If the business owner had no intention of giving us a discount, I should pay the actual cost. I then notified the business to issue a correct invoice for the goods we purchased.
I normally use cash when I shop. Sometimes the cashier would give me too much change. I always return it to them.
The longer I worked with Jia, the more she appreciated Falun Dafa. She defended me on several occasions. When the officers from the local police department and the 610 Office came to harass me, Jia stopped them. She told them to ask for her, not for me if there were any problems. One day, an officer from the 610 Office rang her and asked her how I was doing. She told him, “She is very good. It would be wonderful if everyone practiced Falun Dafa.”
Our office is in a residential area. After I started working there, I always greeted the neighbors when I came to work. As time went on, I came to know them. I helped them when they needed anything, and they knew they could ask me for help.
A married couple was the neighborhood’s security guards, and they cleaned the area. They earned low wages. I often helped them. They knew I practiced Falun Dafa, and they had a good impression of me. They often told the residents that I was very kind.
An elderly gentleman was in a wheelchair and used the concrete ramp to enter and exit the gate. His wife always asked someone to help her push the wheelchair. Whenever I saw them, I helped. I occasionally asked my coworkers to help them. They were very touched and said, “You are so kind.”
I also helped my neighbors upstairs. Sometimes they brought me vegetables and fruits they grew to express their thanks. I always found a way to reimburse them.
My company also benefited from my good behavior. My neighbors told me that my coworkers sometimes forgot to close the office door when they left for the day, so they closed it. The neighbors said I was very kind.
I’ve practiced Falun Dafa for 29 years. Falun Dafa gave me a healthy body and a pure heart. I benefited tremendously from practicing Falun Dafa, and so have my company and neighbors. I wanted to share my cultivation stories with you to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day and to express my gratitude to Falun Dafa.
