Hubei Man Secretly Tried for Practicing Falun Gong

June 12, 2026 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A man in Xianning City, Hubei Province, was secretly tried in early April 2026 because he practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned.

Mr. Li Xuehong, in his 50s and a former employee of the Xianning Cigarette Factory, was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in late September 2025. The police began monitoring his daily activities. Unaware of the surveillance, he posted information online about Falun Gong and was arrested. After 15 days of administrative detention at the Xianning City Lockup, he was transferred to the Xianning City Detention Center.

The police later submitted his case to the Xian’an District Procuratorate, with the charge of “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,” the standard pretext to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China.

The Xian’an District Court held a secret hearing of Mr. Li’s case in early April 2026, without informing his lawyer or family members. He is now awaiting verdict.

Since the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Li has been repeatedly arrested and harassed. He was previously detained four times and held at a brainwashing center twice. He also served a one-year labor camp term and was subjected to various torture methods.

One of the prior arrests took place in mid-April 2025, when he was seized for sending out text messages about Falun Gong on a cellphone. He was detained for 15 days.
