(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 30 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Seventeen practitioners were arrested on April 15, 2026, and given a 15-day detentions. When their families went to the local lockup to pick them up on May 1, 2026, only three practitioners were released, three others were transferred to other detention centers, and the rest were taken to the Caidian District Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Zhu, 75, was arrested at home by Dalianwan Police Station officers on May 12, 2026. She had been recorded by surveillance cameras while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She is currently being held in a local lockup.
Ms. Tong Yujie, 75, was arrested by Minglian Police Station officers on May 20, 2026, and taken to the Zaohua Detention Center the next day.
Ms. Su Li, 32, was arrested around May 20, 2025, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was soon released on bail, and has since faced frequent police harassment. As she refused to write a statement renouncing Falun Gong, she was arrested again on May 11, 2026, and is currently being held in the Hebi City Detection Center. The police have threatened to sentence her to prison.
At least three practitioners were recently taken to a brainwashing center, where they are being forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. The authorities have threatened to sentence them to prison and confiscate their real estate properties if they don’t renounce Falun Gong. They also threatened to implicate their family members.
Mr. Cao Guozhen went missing during the Chinese New Year in February 2026. His home was searched, and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and a satellite dish used to receive overseas television programs were missing.
Ms. Tao Wenzhen, 68, was arrested at Nanyang Market on May 9, 2026. She was placed under a 15-day administration detention. On the day of her scheduled release, the police transferred her to a detention center and refused to release her.
Ms. Liu Jianrong was arrested on April 22, 2026, and taken to the Dalian City Detention Center. She has been denied family visititation.
Ms. Liu Hong, 58, was arrested at home on September 8, 2025, and has since been detained in Shenyang City First Detention Center. She appeared at the Hunnan District Court on March 19, 2026, and was scheduled to stand trial again on May 28, 2026.
Ms. Jin Cuixiang was admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in March 2026, to serve a 4.5-year term.
Mr. Wei Changbao and his wife, Ms. Liu Changqin, were arrested in November 2025, and tried by the Yinan County Court on May 20, 2026. They entered not guilty pleas and testified in their own defense. Their son wasn’t allowed to attend the hearing.
