Garnett Genius, a long time Member of Parliament, expressed his delight in his letter congratulating Shen Yun and welcoming their return to Toronto.

He wrote, “Following the unfortunate cancellations earlier this year due to a series of hoax bomb threats reportedly linked to individuals associated with the Chinese Communist Party, it is heartening to see these shows back on stage. That Shen Yun has returned is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.

“Attempts to suppress peaceful artistic expression on Canadian soil through foreign interference are completely unacceptable. Canada must remain strong in the face of such threats, and Shen Yun’s return is a welcome reminder that we will not be intimidated into silence.

Federal Member of Parliament: All the Best for Shen Yun Performance

Michael Cooper MP wrote, “It is a privilege to send greetings to the Shen Yun Performing Arts Production on its return to Toronto as it wraps up its 20th anniversary global season. Congratulations on the continuation of this iconic artistic production.

“Shen Yun is a cultural extravaganza that highlights the beauty and wonder of China before communism. Shen Yun showcases universal values and timeless virtues that have existed across civilizations throughout history.

“Shen Yun is linked closely to Falun Dafa – whose adherents have been subject to a brutal campaign of extermination by the Chinese Communist Party for over 26 years. Despite Chinese Communist Party oppression, Falun Dafa transcends cultural and national boundaries, bringing peace of mind to millions across the world.

“Once more, I wish all the best for this year’s Shen Yun performance.”

Federal Member of Parliament: Shen Yun’s Return Is a Reminder of the Importance of a Free Society

Ontario Federal Member of Parliament Andrew Lawton's a letter congratulating Shen Yun and welcoming their return to Toronto

Andrew Lawton, Federal Member of Parliament wrote, “I wish to extend congratulations and welcome the Shen Yun Performing Arts to Canada in the 2026 season.

“Shen Yun has become known around the world for its efforts to share stories, history and artistic traditions that are often suppressed elsewhere. Canada’s strength lies in its commitment to fundamental freedoms, including the freedom of belief, expression and cultural practice. These freedoms make it possible for diverse communities to share their heritage and beliefs openly and without fear.

“A free society is one in which art, culture, and spirituality can be shared without fear of persecution, censorship or political interference. Attempts to restrict or criminalize peaceful religious or spiritual expression undermine the very freedoms that sustain our democracy.

“Shen Yun’s presence in Canada is a reminder of why these freedoms matter. Their performances offer Canadians an opportunity to witness cultural narratives that in some parts of the world are silenced.

“I extend my warmest greetings on the Shen Yun Artists across Canada and wish them a successful and inspiring season.”
