When spectator Sarah saw the Falun Gong practitioners’ march in Toronto, Canada on July 18, 2026, she said, “Ten years ago, I saw your parade in Hong Kong, and it was an unforgettable experience. I found the whole parade very moving because the message you conveyed was about kindness, truth, and health.”
She said she was deeply moved when she saw a similar event being held despite the rain. “People should respect something so peaceful and benevolent,” she said.
Practitioners held events to tell people about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution that began 27 years ago, in July 1999. They started the day with group exercises in the morning in front of the Ontario Legislative Building, then held a rally. While the rain continued, practitioners held an hour-long march at noon, followed by a candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese Consulate that evening.

Practitioners did the exercises, then held a rally and march in Toronto on July 18, 2026.
Zelia from Turkey was jogging past the provincial parliament building when she stopped to watch the Falun Gong practitioners as they did the exercises. She took photos and accepted a flyer. After hearing that the Falun Gong exercises were beneficial physically and can improve a person’s mental well-being, she was interested and asked if she could learn them. She did the first and second exercises and practiced the fifth one, a meditation, for about half an hour.

“This is my first time trying it, and I feel very relaxed. I’ll visit your website to learn more. Thank you very much,” Zelia said. She really liked the exercise music and said it was wonderful.
When she learned that the event commemorated the 27th anniversary of peaceful resistance to persecution, Zelia expressed shock and offered her support. “I hope that Falun Gong practitioners in China can be safe and no longer encounter problems” and added she would let more people know about the persecution.

The long procession drew many people, who stopped and read the banners, including Evel, who works in construction. He was shopping with his friend when they saw the march, and were curious.
Evel said the event seemed very peaceful. From the banners he learned what was going on in China, and a practitioner explained that the CCP persecutes Falun Gong because the number of practitioners exceeded CCP members. “China has over a billion people, and there are bound to be different beliefs; the CCP should respect these beliefs, not persecute them,” Evel said.

This was the first time that Marvin and his friend Kurt saw a Falun Gong event. After hearing about the 27-year long suppression, including the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from practitioners while they are alive, Marvin was surprised.
“I think this is terrifying because it [the persecution] has become an institutionalized practice. Under such a system, I would be afraid to go to the hospital, because the hospital staff are focused on harvesting organs, not on helping me recover my health,” he explained.
Both Marvin and Kurt said they would tell people how the CCP persecutes Falun Gong. Marvin said he also agreed with Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. “Being true to yourself can reduce a lot of stress; these principles convey a positive message,” he said.

Lori was moved when she saw the practitioners’ candlelight vigil. “It’s so beautiful here because it’s peaceful and allows for quiet reflection,” she said. “It also makes me more empathetic to the message you’re conveying.”

A practitioner told a spectator named Lori that practicing the Falun Gong exercises helps practitioners improve their health, and this is precisely the reason that the CCP profits from harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. Lori was shocked, and said, “What a person does with their organs is their own right, and the government should not interfere. I hope the Canadian government can find a way to influence the CCP to stop the persecution.” She said she would share this information with her family and friends.
When she heard that practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and strive to become good people, Lori was touched. “I like being friendly to people, and I also think truthfulness is very important. The CCP spreads lies, and people need the truth,” she said. “I really like the combination of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and I want to learn more.” She made a note of the Learnfalungong.org website and said she would follow up on it.
