(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in The Hague on July 17, 2026. They held banners on Willem Lodewijklaan Street and Adriaan Goekooplaan Street to protest the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 27-year-long persecution and call for an end to the human rights abuses.

They also displayed portraits of those practitioners who have died due to the persecution. Some practitioners talked with passersby about the persecution. Many people paused to read the information and some took photos. Some read flyers the practitioners distributed.

KaYan Wong, a spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association in the Netherlands, said at the rally, “Twenty-seven years ago, Jiang Zemin, former head of the CCP, initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999. Millions of practitioners were arrested, imprisoned, sent to forced labor camps or brainwashing centers, tortured, or even killed. At least 5,359 practitioners are verified to have died due to the persecution. More shockingly, the CCP conducts state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting.”

Two practitioners from China also spoke in the rally. They described how their health and characters improved after they began practicing Falun Gong and then how they or their family members were persecuted by the CCP. They called on the embassy staff to be aware of the current situation and to not follow the CCP to commit crimes.

A practitioner said, “We come here to ask the embassy staff to recognize the evil nature of the CCP and sever ties with it. The CCP is not China. Please support kindness and uphold justice.”

Several Chinese people who were at the embassy on business changed their attitude from resistance to understanding and appreciation after they talked to practitioners.

A practitioner told a Chinese man in his 30s how he was persecuted for practicing Falun Gong, that he was fired from his post as a professor, and that his business was shut down, twice. The police even pursued him after he moved to other provinces.

The man said with emotion, “We are so busy, we only pay attention to our own issues. Thank you for telling me so much about the CCP.”

Raising Awareness at a Popular Destination

Practitioners went to the Peace Palace in The Hague to raise awareness, and many tourists from around the world talked to them.

Shiva Amiri, a human rights lawyer, said after seeing the protest, “This [persecution] should not be happening. We should have freedom of belief and freedom of expression. No one should be persecuted for their religious belief. As long as a person does no harm, they should be able to choose their belief.”

Sam, a tour guide from Syria, had brought his tourist group to visit the Peace Palace. Touched by the practitioners’ event, he said, “You are civilized, polite, and appropriately dressed as you tell people about the persecution while upholding your belief.”

Talking about communism, he said, “I used to live in a communist country. The communist party is very bad, the worst in the world. It is terrible. It should disappear.

“You suffer such terrible persecution, but you still uphold your belief. Perhaps the situation doesn’t initially appear to change much. But as long as you don’t give up, future generations will know what happened,” Sam said.

Tibatso from South Africa said he read about a doctor taking organs for transplant from a prisoner who’d been executed by a firing squad. When the doctor cut the man’s body, fresh blood gushed out, indicating that he was still alive. Tibatso said the report still haunted him.

When he saw practitioners raising awareness of the CCP’s forced organ harvesting, he immediately signed the petition and said, “If you don’t know what this means, you don’t deserve to be a human being. It’s reprehensible that such things are occurring in 2026. This should not be!”
