(Minghui.org) One day in early February 2026, I went out as usual to tell people the facts about Falun Dafa (Falun Gong). By noon, I had helped several people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Later, I returned home.
When I arrived at the entrance to my residential compound, I saw four plainclothes officers. A female officer quickly handcuffed me without showing any ID or any other documentation. As I was being dragged over to a police vehicle, I asked why I was being arrested. A male officer replied, “You know what you did.” When I told them I did not commit any crime, he said that helping people quit the CCP was a crime.
I was shoved into the police vehicle and taken to the county police department, where someone put a yellow vest (used to identify criminals) on me. I resisted, struggling to take it off, and said, “I didn’t commit any crime.” An officer tried to force me to wear a pair of slippers, but I refused to cooperate. Someone pushed me down and put them on me. I was later dragged to an interrogation room and made to sit on a stool enclosed by metal bars.
Two officers interrogated me, one questioning and the other recording. One officer asked if I knew a practitioner named Mei who had been arrested at the same time. Instead of answering, I said that Falun Dafa is good and began to explain the importance of quitting the CCP. The officer said, “Just answer the questions I ask. Don’t talk about quitting the CCP.”
I replied, “I will only say what I should; I won’t say anything I shouldn’t. What I told you is good for you to know. I won’t say anything that is not good for you.”
The police took me to my home, ransacked it, and arrested my husband. They dropped a stack of truth-clarification brochures on the floor and took pictures of them. Then they laid out the items they’s looted from my home on the floor in another room, pushed me in there, and tried to take a picture of me with the items. I knew they were trying to frame my husband and me. I refused to cooperate, but they took the photos by force.
After all this, an officer called the domestic security department for guidance. The head of the domestic security department instructed them to detain me for 15 days. Seeing the worried look on my husband’s face, I begged Master to help secure his release and said I would accept full responsibility. I later realized this thought was wrong because it acknowledged the persecution. With Master’s help, my husband was released that day.
Back at the police department, I was ordered to roll my fingers in ink so they could take my fingerprints. When I refused, several officers pulled my hair, pressed on my neck, and hit my back until it got hard for me to breathe. I advised them to stop and said, “Beating me is not in your best interests. Divine beings are watching you.”
They responded, “We do not fear retribution.” I could not raise my right arm for a long time after the beating.
Seeing that I refused to cooperate, the director of the county police station threatened me, saying, “We will expose you on the internet if you refuse to give up Falun Gong.” They printed a sign that said, “I do not practice Falun Gong,” pinned it to my chest, and took a picture just to humiliate me.
They took me to a hospital for a required exam so they could admit me to the detention center. I protested. They pushed me into a wheelchair, strapped me in, and wheeled me to the examination room. The results showed that I was healthy, but my glucose was slightly elevated. Seeing the results, one officer said, “She practices Falun Gong. She is really healthy. Her glucose is a little high because she is overweight. In the future, I will practice Falun Gong.”
They took me to the detention center around 8:00 p.m. Two officers were on duty, one elderly and one young. When they told me to sign in, I refused, saying I was being illegally detained. Then I told them about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I was taken to an empty cell because I was the only female detainee there. The monitoring devices at the four corners of the room were flashing a cold, creepy light. I felt lonely and helpless.
With tears in my eyes, I started looking within: What were my mistakes? Where had I not done well? What should I do next? At that moment, my mind went blank, and I could not think of anything. I asked Master for a hint. One of Master’s poems came to mind:
“Don’t Be Sad
“Your body lies in prison—don’t be sorrowful, don’t be sadWith righteous thoughts and righteous actions, Fa is hereCalmly reflect on how many attachments you haveAs you get rid of human mentality, evil is naturally defeated”(Hong Yin II)
I knew I wouldn’t have been persecuted if I had no loopholes, but I did not know how to look inward. I asked Master for help again. Master reminded me of more Fa. I recited the Fa and sent forth righteous thoughts nonstop during the first 24 hours. I napped briefly and then recited the Fa and sent righteous thoughts. Gradually, my righteous thoughts grew stronger, and my mind became clear.
I started looking within, recalling things from my past. First, I realized that I was attached to comfort, sleep, and good food. I had been stuck in that state for a long time. Wasn’t this an opportunity to let go of those attachments? Realizing this, I was very strict with myself and ate only one meal a day. In addition, I slept very little, so I had a lot of time to memorize the Fa and send righteous thoughts. When I felt sleepy at night, I splashed cold water on my face and then felt refreshed. Because I got sleepy after eating a lot, I didn’t eat large meals.
The officers watched me closely, afraid I would develop health issues. The director of the detention center often visited me, urging me to eat more and asking if I needed anything. I said, “Please turn off the TV. The noise makes my head hurt and irritates my heart.” The director agreed to turn the TV off. Then I added, “I hurt all over. I am also very stressed because I cannot be with my family during the Chinese New Year. That is why I cannot lie down normally at night and have to lie on my side facing the wall. (Actually, it was convenient for me to recite the Fa in that position.) I can’t sit for very long. Please let me sit and lie down as needed.” The director didn’t object to any of my requests.
The next day, I had ringing in my ears. After breakfast, several guards insisted that I attend a study session in another cell. I said, “I can’t do that. I am not well.” But they forced me to go. I asked Master to arrange an opportunity for me to clarify the truth about Dafa.
They tried to help me walk, but I told them there was no need. I walked slowly, steadying myself against the wall and staggering along. One officer said, “You practice Falun Gong. How come you walk like that? Didn’t you say you were healthy?”
I responded, “I was very healthy before I was arrested. My last physical showed I didn’t have any health issues. I am like this now because the police beat me.”
In another cell, a dozen male detainees were watching the study materials on TV. One of them asked, “What was the ‘self-immolation’ all about?”
I said, “The Tiananmen Square self-immolation was a hoax designed to defame Falun Gong. Wang Jindong, who set himself on fire, appeared to be badly burned, so why didn’t the plastic bottle between his legs melt? Liu Siying, the little girl in the video, could sing clearly after a tracheotomy. How is that possible?” Seeing they were all listening, I continued, “The Chinese Communist Party staged all of it to manufacture a reason to persecute Falun Gong.”
One guard interrupted me and asked, “Who has persecuted you?”
I replied, “At my age, I don’t lie. Look, these wounds are from the beating.” I lifted my shirt to show them my injuries. Then I raised my hands to reveal my swollen wrists and arms.
Hearing me talk nonstop, a guard hurried over to stop me and said, “You can go back.” They took me back to my cell. After that, I wasn’t required to attend the study sessions.
In my cell, I continued reciting the Fa and sending righteous thoughts. In my mind, I asked fellow practitioners to send righteous thoughts for me, hoping to be released soon. I later realized I should not send righteous thoughts for my benefit; instead, I should use them for all sentient beings, including those in the CCP’s public security, procuratorate, and judicial systems. Only by eliminating all evil factors behind those people would they no longer participate in the persecution and thus have a bright future. Thinking of this, I noticed my righteous thoughts grew stronger, and I felt Dafa’s peaceful and compassionate energy field surrounding me.
I also discovered my attachment to personal gain. I often worried that the police would seize the funds I’d been given for a land acquisition. I knew I had to correct myself based on the Fa. I thought, “Master gave me this money. No one is allowed to take it away. That would be a crime. Master will arrange everything for me.”
One night I dreamed that a practitioner came to my home to help me make soybean paste. The character for soybean paste is a homophone for “competitiveness” in Chinese. I told her that I no longer needed to make it. I realized Master was hinting that I needed to get rid of my attachment to competitiveness. I had grown up in the CCP’s culture and, under the influence of its philosophy of struggle, developed a strong attachment to competitiveness. I had been quite aggressive with family and friends and argued to extremes. I knew I had incurred a lot of karma due to this behavior.
During the Chinese New Year, every detainee was given a box of dumplings. Seeing them, I thought, “If I were at home, I would be with my family, enjoying delicious food.” Thinking of this, my tears streamed down my face. I immediately realized that my desire for food and my affection for family were too strong. It was time to remove those attachments. This suffering counted for nothing. Thinking of Master’s Fa, my mind suddenly cleared, and I no longer felt sad.
Before I was taken to the detention center, the head of the domestic security department snapped at me, saying, “I will lock you up for two weeks.” His eyes looked sinister, and he had a ferocious expression on his face. In the days that followed, I kept remembering his ferocious look. I later came to understand that he was also exploited by evil forces. Evil led him to commit crimes against practitioners, and, in the end, he would be destroyed. I should send righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factors controlling him. I sent righteous thoughts for him several times, and I no longer pictured his menacing face.
A few days before my detention was to end, a guard said, “Your term will end soon. Give me your home phone number. I will call your family and tell them when to pick you up.”
The director of the detention center said, “Wait. There might be a change.” I thought, “You don’t get to decide. You aren’t worthy.” I was released on the correct day.
I cannot find the words to express my gratitude to Master for his guidance and strengthening during those days. I will be more diligent in doing the three things and hope that Master will have fewer reasons to worry about me.
