(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported on the arrests of 11 Falun Gong practitioners in Guye District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, between June 9 and 11, 2026. Minghui recently learned that 16 practitioners and one family member were arrested during that period of time.
Nine practitioners were arrested on the evening of June 9, including Ms. Zhang Xiujuan, Ms. Zhang Shufen, Mr. Miao Yongli, Mr. Ma Yingjie, Ms. Wu Caixia, Ms. Lyu Guiying, Ms. Wang Shufang, Ms. Jiang Yufeng, 74, and Ms. Wang Shouhua.
Mr. Jia Hongjiang was also targeted that day, but the police decided not to arrest him after they observed he was in poor health. They kept his wife, who does not practice Falun Gong, in custody for several hours. They later released Mr. Jia on bail.
Ms. Ji Sufeng was arrested on June 10. She was given 10 days at the Tangshan City Lockup.
Mr. Wang Jinyou, 75, was arrested at noon on June 11. He was released around 10 p.m.
The arrest times of the remaining five practitioners are unknown. They are Ms. Wang Chunfang, Ms. Wang Ailing, Ms. Wang Xiuyun, Ms. Zhao Manru, and Ms. Liu Shumin.
Seven of the targeted practitioners are still held at the Tangshan City First Detention Center, including Ms. Zhang Xiujuan, Ms. Zhang Shufen, Mr. Miao, Mr. Ma, Ms. Wang Shouhua, Ms. Wang Chunfang, and Ms. Jiang. Ms. Jiang’s son hired a defense lawyer for her.
Seven of the targeted practitioners were confirmed to have been released, including Ms. Wang Xiuyun, Ms. Lyu, Ms. Zhao, Ms. Liu, Ms. Wu, Ms. Wang Shufang, and Mr. Wang Jinyou.
It is unclear whether Ms. Ji was released on June 20 as scheduled.
The case status of Ms. Wang Ailing is unknown.
Besides the 16 practitioners, Ms. Zhao Huaru was also targeted but she avoided being arrested because her family’s strongly protested.
