Finland: Festival Attendees Sign a Petition to End the Persecution of Falun Gong

Aug. 10, 2026 |   By Minghui correspondents in Finland

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners participated in the Puistofiesta festival at Hämeenpuisto Park in Tampere, Finland, on August 2, 2026. This event is designed for the whole family and aims to bring the local community together. Many local businesses, sports clubs, and nonprofit organizations are showcased and attendees can discover new activities and hobbies at the event.

Practitioners introduced Falun Dafa, demonstrated the exercises, and handed out flyers. They also informed people about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 27-year persecution of Falun Dafa as well as the state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting.

A group of girls was drawn to the peaceful and soothing exercises and came to the booth three times to learn the exercises. They carefully followed along and learned the exercise movements.

Many people came to the booth and talked with practitioners after they saw the banner: “Stop Forced Organ Harvesting in China.”

“At Least I Can Do Something”

Milla said she watches international news and is aware of the persecution of Falun Gong and the CCP’s forced organ harvesting. She signed the petition and said, “At least I can do something.” She said that human rights’ issues are deeply important to her and that was why she signed the petition to show support.

A practitioner gave her a lotus flower to show appreciation for her attention and support for human rights in China.

Man Who Has Been to China: “I Believe Anything Is Possible in China”

Tom from Argentina, along with his Turkish and Finnish friends, watched practitioners do the exercises. Tom spoke with a practitioner for a long time and said he pays close attention to the CCP’s impact on the world. “Ending the CCP is a major issue,” he said.

He mentioned that Chinese apps like TikTok gather a large amount of data from users, which made him concerned about the CCP using technology to expand its control. He believes the world today is facing a type of new “capitalist communism.”

Speaking of forced organ harvesting, he said, “I believe anything is possible in China. The CCP has carried out millions of organ transplants. In China, life is extremely difficult.” He’s read related reports and was aware that the CCP for a long time abuses prisoners and imposes forced labor. He said, “I’ve watched documentaries about the CCP’s re-education through labor camps. I saw that prisoners peeled garlic for a long time and both their hands suffered severe ulceration. This is forced labor.”

Tom also mentioned that the CCP built a social credit system and uses technology like face recognition to monitor people. He’s been to China and said the first time he was there the workers at a phone manufacturing plant were protesting and someone jumped off a building and died. He learned about what happened through overseas media, but many Chinese people around him did not know. He said, “It happened right next to them, but they did not know. This was very shocking to me.” At that time, he shared the information with his Chinese friend, who was surprised and asked for the source of information. This made him feel the severity of the CCP’s information censorship.

“Everybody Should Stand Up”

After IT engineer Anu learned about the organ harvesting she signed the petition and said, “This is very saddening. Everybody should stand up and oppose this persecution.” When a practitioner told her Falun Dafa’s guiding principles are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, she said, “If all people can be friendly to others, the entire society would become better. Being kind to others does not ask for anything in return.”

The practitioner gave her an origami lotus flower. She looked at it closely and said happily, “I will hang it somewhere that can be seen often.”

People Condemn the Persecution

Aareti said, “Human rights are crucial. Without human rights, there is no true equality. Extracting other people’s organs is absolutely wrong.”

Uno said she played a game that had a scene about organ extraction. At the time, she thought it was a fictional story. After learning that systematic organ harvesting existed, she angrily said, “I didn’t know this truly existed, so I decided to sign the petition.”

Juhani said, “It is truly chilling to hear that there are people who systematically kill in order to obtain organs.”

Before she signed the petition Marjo asked, “Will my signature really help? Has anyone taken action?” The practitioner explained that the petition not only shows the public opinion to governments and the international community, but more importantly allows more people to learn about the persecution of human rights in China.

She then said, “This [organ harvesting] is insane. Truly hard to believe. I read about related reports in the past but it was still hard to believe that such a massive system would do something like this. Hope all this can change.”

Eveliina and Mira said hearing about the persecution made them “speechless” and that, “Finland is truly great in comparison.”

Marja said, “It is so scary if one could be jailed or even subjected to forced organ harvesting for one’s faith. I hope this situation changes for the better.” She believed that in order to maintain power the CCP persecutes religions and uses brainwashing, surveillance, and threats to make people afraid to think or express their true thoughts.
