(Minghui.org) I’ve practiced Falun Dafa for nearly 30 years. I’ve realized that, as long as we are strict about following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in everything we do, people will gradually understand and accept the truth, because everyone’s innate nature is kind.
Years ago, several low-level officials came to my house and demanded that I stop practicing Falun Dafa. I said, “What’s wrong with being a good person who thinks of others? If everyone considered others first, society would improve, and you’d have less to worry about—wouldn’t that be good?”
When one of them asked how being a good person has benefited me, I told them about the time my neighbor’s child damaged my roof. I did not want to make a fuss and planned to buy a tile to replace the damaged one. It rained before I had a chance to fix the roof, but water did not leak through the hole, and I still haven’t replaced the tile.
I invited them into my house to see the sunlight streaming through the hole in the roof. When other officials later came to my house, I told them to remember “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” and they would be blessed. They said they would and told me to pay attention to safety.
The village drains were blocked by mud, and the water flooded the road, making it hard to walk. The village head asked each family to clean the drain in front of their home, but he did not give them any money. There is a saying nowadays: “Money is not omnipotent, but one cannot do without it.” No one cleaned their drain. I thought, “I’m a practitioner. No one wants to clean the drains, so I will.” I cleaned the drains several times a year.
One spring, the village committee wanted to beautify the place and decided to plant flowers. Several tractors delivered soil, but they piled it right in the middle of the road, and people and cars could not get through. I took a shovel and made a path. The wife of the village head saw me shoveling and rang the village Party secretary: “You had tractors deliver soil, but they blocked the road. Guess who is cleaning it up?” The Party secretary guessed, “Your husband?”
She said, “No, he isn’t well. A Falun Dafa practitioner shoveled the soil aside and cleared a path. Don’t you think practitioners are good?”
The official said, “I did not say they were bad.”
The village head’s wife said, “You must thank her the next time you see her.”
After the flowers were planted, some people dug up the nicer ones and took them home to plant in their yards leaving the unattractive ones behind. The weeds grew faster than the flowers and soon covered them. No one cared. I mowed the grass and got rid of the weeds. When the flowers died, I replaced them. Every year, I fertilized the flowers. I never asked the village committee for a single cent.
In the fall of 2024, the new Party official and several police officers and village officials came to my house. The Party official asked, “What do you do at home every day?” I said, “I read books.”
The official said, “You have books? I’ll get a search warrant and conduct a search.”
One village official said, “She has no books. We already confiscated them.” Another official said, “She eats at home, then takes a nap and goes out to socialize with the other elderly villagers.”
The village officials know that I’m a good person, and they protected me.
