(Minghui.org) I am 74 years old and live by myself in a rural area with some land that I farm. I used to run a small clinic and work as a doctor. I would like to share a cultivation experience with my fellow practitioners.
The incident first occurred in the summer of 2023 during the corn growing season. I went to my cornfield to carry out weed control. When I arrived, I saw that the row of corn on my boundary, right next to my neighbor’s field, had died due to herbicide sprayed by my neighbor. Although I was a little unhappy about it, I thought my neighbor had not done this on purpose. I did not give the issue much thought nor bring it up with my neighbor.
The following year, when it was time to plant corn, I intentionally left the row closest to my neighbor’s field unplanted, because I didn’t want my variety of corn, which grows much taller, to shade out my neighbor’s shorter crops. However, when I went to the field to carry out weed control, I discovered the row of corn closest to my neighbor’s land had once again been killed by herbicide drifting over from his side.
This time, I felt deeply upset and believed my neighbor was intentionally taking advantage of me. I kept thinking about confronting him. If he refused to listen, I wondered how I could report him and make him compensate me for the damage. My mind was filled with thoughts of arguing, fighting, and seeking revenge. Even so, the principles of Dafa restrained me, and in the end, I did not act on those thoughts.
The next day, full of resentment and dissatisfaction, I shared this experience with a fellow practitioner. He said, “We are cultivators, and should not go over and argue with others. If we do that, the other person will lose face. Besides, we know from the Fa that everything happens for a reason. It may be because we owe them something from a past life and the debt needs to be repaid.”
Listening to his wisdom, I calmed down and realized that I should not fight with people. I still had such a strong attachment to self-interest.
Returning home, I studied Zhuan Falun. Master said,
“As you know, when a person reaches the Arhat level, in his heart he is not concerned about anything. He does not care at all in his heart for any ordinary human matter, and he will always be smiling and in good spirits. No matter how much loss he suffers, he will still be smiling and in good spirits without any concern. If you can really do this, you have already reached the entry-level Fruition Status of Arhatship.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
After studying this Fa, I suddenly became enlightened to higher principles, and let go of the mentality of fighting and self-interest. When I saw my neighbor, I greeted him as if nothing had happened.
In the third year, when I planted corn again, I cleared a plot of land further away from the boundary, so that my plants wouldn’t shade out my neighbor’s crops. This time none of my plants were killed by my neighbor’s herbicide spray.
A while ago, my neighbor brought over four small roasted chickens and some other things, saying he wanted to have a meal with me. I welcomed him into my house. Although he didn’t apologize, his actions spoke volumes. He kept saying, “What a good person you are.” Now, my neighbor is very kind to me, always proactively greeting me when we meet. The whole incident quietly disappeared with the guidance of Dafa.
I recognized the benefits I received from studying the Fa. No matter how tired I am after work, I make sure I study one lecture of the teachings every day. If I have less work, I study two lectures. I send forth righteous thoughts on the hour and complete all five exercises daily.
My neighbors praise me for my good health and vibrant energy. I tell them that I practice Falun Dafa every day and my whole village knows that I am a Dafa practitioner.
Another incident happened more than 10 years ago, while I was still running my clinic and not long after I started practicing.
My cousin’s husband took me to see his father in his new car. It was drizzling, so as we approached an intersection, I said, “Be careful crossing this intersection, slow down, and look carefully.”
I saw a bright light, and then there was a loud bang—our car had crashed into another vehicle. The other car was thrown about six meters and rolled over into a ditch. Strangely, although the windscreen was broken, it stayed completely intact.
Our car rolled too and even knocked over the concrete barrier on the roadside. But a few minutes later, the four people in the other car climbed out completely unharmed. It was a miracle! I know it was Master who saved us and also repaid a karmic debt that I owed.
Thank you, Master, for saving my life!
