(Minghui.org) An 81-year-old woman in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, was arrested at her daughter’s home in early April 2026 for her faith in Falun Gong.
The arresting officers were from the Pingqiao Police Station. It is unclear where they are holding Ms. Liu Biying.
Ms. Liu took up Falun Gong amid the Chinese Communist Party’s ongoing persecution of this ancient mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Ms. Liu reported that she experienced two miracles with Falun Gong. The first one was that her illnesses disappeared, including deafness, rheumatoid arthritis, and a leg ulcer. She was overjoyed that she could hear again and enjoy an illness-free life.
The second miracle was that she was able to read Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong. Having never attended school for even one day, Ms. Liu learned to recognize every word in Zhuan Falun. In no time, she could read the entire book all by herself.
Ms. Liu was visiting her hometown of Suiyang County (also in Guizhou Province) on February 20, 2010, when she was arrested. The police drove her to the Guizhou Province Labor Camp to serve an unknown term. They got lost while en-route there and had to release her.
A supermarket manager reported Ms. Liu for talking to him about Falun Gong and got her arrested. The police later released her after finding no Falun Gong materials at her home. The exact time of this persecution episode was unknown.
Ms. Liu was shadowed by a plainclothes officer on September 1, 2016, and arrested. She was issued a formal arrest warrant nine days later and taken to the 368 Hospital (a police hospital). About three months later, she was transferred to the Nanming District Detention Center.
The Nanming District Court sentenced Ms. Liu to 3.5 years with a 3,000 yuan fine at an unknown time. She was admitted to the Guizhou Province Women’s Prison and released in March 2020.
Ms. Liu was arrested again in March 2022, while visiting a friend. She was sentenced to one and a half years and served time at the Sanjiang Detention Center. She was released in September 2023.
