(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner, Fangmin, returned home in 2004 after being persecuted by the CCP. Her family had no money; they had to rely on credit and borrowing just to put food on the table. She urgently needed to go out and earn a living.
At this critical juncture, she heard about a local military-run reclamation farm. The director, Song, was a military man in his forties who had leased a portion of the land to a business owner from another province for mushroom cultivation.
This business owner was looking for someone who could cook for his workers (Fangmin had previously worked as a rural cook). She went to see the owner, and he agreed to hire her immediately. The farm was located just over half a kilometer (about 1/3 mile) from her home.
Following the instructions, Fangmin carried out every task with great care and soon earned the praise of both the boss and the workers; everyone was very satisfied with the meals she prepared. Sometimes, Mr. Song would even come by for some of the food she prepared.
At that time, Mr. Song received a request from the local “610” Office—issued in the name of the local government—asking him to monitor the Falun Gong practitioner, and he agreed. However, he did not fully trust what the “610” Office said (since he had often observed how practitioners conducted themselves).
After observing Fangmin for some time, one day he asked her, “Do you practice Falun Gong?” She replied, “Yes.” Song said, “They told me to keep an eye on you, but you don’t seem to be what they described. You’re a good person—you’re diligent and skilled at what you do (referring to her cooking).”
Fangmin then told him, “I used to suffer from all kinds of illnesses—so many that there wasn’t a single part of my body that was healthy. By the time I was in my thirties, I was already unable to work. My family had been relatively well-off, but we spent all our savings on medical treatment. Eventually, we ran out of money for treatment, and I had no choice but to accept that my life would soon end. After learning Falun Gong, I recovered quickly, and now I’m in excellent health. If I hadn’t learned Falun Gong, would I even be here cooking today?” She then explained the full truth about Falun Gong to him. Song listened intently.
Since Mr. Song had come to understand the truth about Falun Gong, he stopped interfering with Fangmin’s spreading the truth on the farm. At that time, the Nine Commentaries were widely circulating.
In order to help these soldiers understand the truth as soon as possible, she brought copies of the Nine Commentaries to the farm and placed them under the soldiers’ pillows. After reading the Nine Commentaries, many of them would gather in groups at night, using flashlights to make their way to her home to withdraw from the Communist Party and its affiliated organizations.
One day, the farm director rushed over and told Fangmin, “Hurry back and hide your books, and lend them to me later. They’re about to raid your home.” (The authorities had asked Song if Fangmin was at the farm and said they were going to her home.)
She ran home, hid everything, and then returned to the farm. Those people went to her house but didn’t find anything.
Afterward, Song asked Fangmin, “What does that book say?” She replied, “It teaches how to be a good person.” The camp director asked, “Could you lend me your book so I can take a look?” “Sure.” She then loaned Zhuan Falun to him.
Blessed by Dafa, he soon came to bid her goodbye; he got a promotion!
