(Minghui.org) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner who failed to hold myself to strict standards for a while, often shopping online or watching videos on my phone. I knew I shouldn’t waste the time meant for Fa-rectification cultivation. This behavior invited harassment and persecution from local community personnel.
A representative from the local Comprehensive Management Office visited my home about three months ago. She said that officials from the town government wanted to come and “study” with me (that is, brainwash me) at the community center or at my home.
I said, “I will not go anywhere.” She replied, “You will be forced to.” I responded, “You are committing a crime against a Dafa practitioner. This is persecution. I absolutely refuse to cooperate.” She claimed it was an arrangement by higher authorities. I calmed my mind and looked inward. I held myself to the Fa standards and corrected myself.
Later, the director of the town’s Comprehensive Management Office came to my home and said, “You have been designated by the city authorities (meaning, a target for persecution). We have a mandate to ‘transform’ you.”
I said, “I haven’t broken any laws. I practice the universal Fa of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the most righteous path. What would I be ‘transformed’ into?”
He responded, “We have no choice in the matter. Just don’t upload any recording of me to the internet” (he thought I was recording him).
I said, “If you haven’t done anything wrong, why would you fear having your words posted online? You shouldn’t be part of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that is carrying out this persecution. Only by withdrawing from the CCP, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers can one have a bright future.” I explained why it was important to quit these organizations. He neither agreed nor objected.
Finally, he said, “We’ll have to arrange for someone to come and ‘study’ with you.” I responded, “I’m not going anywhere. I don't have the time and do not consent to that.”
A few days later, they arrived with a retired former director who had been involved in the persecution of Falun Dafa for over 20 years. I tried to explain the facts about the practice, but she refused to listen. “You should accumulate virtue for your children and grandchildren and don’t make them pay the price for your actions. Persecuting a righteous faith invites retribution,” I said. She wouldn’t believe a word I said.
I then spoke with the others who were with her. I explained the facts about the April 25 appeal and that the “Tiananmen Square self-immolation” was a staged hoax. I told them that Jiang Zemin had suppressed and slandered Falun Dafa out of jealousy. Hearing this, she flew into a rage and ordered the others to stop listening.
I told them, “I am speaking the truth. I practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I hope you choose a bright future for yourselves.” After I spoke for two hours, she said, “We’ll come again another time.” I replied, “You are not allowed to come back. You are not welcome here.”
None of them returned.
Later, they contacted my younger brother, trying to trick him into helping them “transform” me. I told my brother not to say or do anything disrespectful toward Dafa. They told my brother they would send me to a “study class.” My brother told them, “You are breaking the law. My sister is a law-abiding citizen. I will report you.” They also called my son and his wife, hoping to try to get them to “transform” me. My son and daughter-in-law simply refused to answer their calls.
Twenty days later, representatives from the community office came to my home and said that the secretary of the district’s Political and Legal Affairs Commission wanted to meet me at 2:30 p.m. I said that if they were coming to hear the truth, they could come. Otherwise, they were not allowed to be here.
It was a scorching 41°C [105.8°F] outside when seven people, mostly unfamiliar faces, arrived at the specified time. I turned on the air conditioner and invited them inside. I said, “We must have formed a bond of kindness, a predestined connection rooted in the Buddha Fa in a past life. On a day this hot, the CCP is persecuting us, but it is persecuting you even more. By ordering you to come here and commit offenses against Dafa practitioners, it is truly destroying you.”
After they sat down, I asked for their names and official titles. Only the Secretary of the District Political and Legal Affairs Commission gave his last name. The secretary seemed confident he could “transform” me. I told them that everything they had heard about Falun Dafa was fabricated lies intended to suppress and smear the practice. The secretary didn’t want me to continue speaking. I realized they had come to attain salvation through this encounter. I knew I had to tell them the facts and could not let these sentient beings down. With a heart full of compassion, I spoke about the April 25 appeal, facts about Falun Dafa, and the reality behind the “Tiananmen Square self-immolation” incident. I explained the importance of withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
The secretary challenged me, “Since you practice Falun Dafa, recite some of it for us to hear.” I recited the Fa-rectification verses to eliminate the evil factors that were manipulating and obstructing their ability to hear the truth and attain salvation.
Throughout the process, I maintained a peaceful state of mind, feeling Master strengthening and protecting me. My practitioner husband was sending righteous thoughts in another room. The others listened to me with smiles. The atmosphere in the room was very harmonious. After about an hour, the secretary said, “I am a CCP member and still believe in the Party, but I admire you.” He gave me a thumbs-up.
