(Minghui.org) A 63-year-old woman in Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, is facing indictment for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Chen Xueqing, born in October 1962, was arrested on the afternoon of July 20, 2026, while working as an aide at a private residence. She was given 15 days of administrative detention and put on criminal detention on August 3.
A local procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant for Ms. Chen on August 13. She is currently held at the Shaoguan City Detention Center. The police refused to reveal case details to her family.
This is not the first time that Ms. Chen, who retired from Shaoguan Steel Group, has been targeted for her faith. She was arrested around February 2004 and held at the Sangongli Detention Center. After another arrest on March 18, 2005, she was fined an unknown amount. The police seized her on November 2, 2008, and detained her for 15 days.
Agents from the Qujiang District Police Department and the Songshan Police Station arrested Ms. Chen on August 29, 2014, and put her in the Shaoguan City Detention Center. She stood trial at the Qujiang District Court on December 20, 2014. Her lawyer was dragged out of the courthouse when he tried to defend her innocence.
Ms. Chen was sentenced to three years on December 23, 2014. She was released in August 2017, only to be arrested again on May 16, 2019. The same Qujiang District Court sentenced her to four and a half years with a 10,000-yuan fine around February 2021. Her appeal was rejected by the Shaoguan City Intermediate Court, and she was ordered to serve time at the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison.
