(Minghui.org) I am 62 years old. I’m very happy that I can finally read the Fa fluently. Thank you, Master, for your compassionate protection and fellow practitioners for your selfless help.
My mother told me I suddenly started stuttering when I was four years old. I didn’t dare speak in front of others, even when I read Falun Dafa’s teachings. Instead I silently recited the Fa.
No matter how fluently I could read silently, I stuttered the moment I read aloud—even when I read the Fa aloud by myself at home. Stuttering became a shadow that I could not shake off.
I began practicing Dafa in spring of 1999. Soon afterwards, all my illnesses disappeared and I became a new person. Then the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched its brutal persecution of Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999. Chinese people are instilled with atheistic ideology from childhood and aren’t taught anything about Buddhist teachings or Taoist practices, let alone Falun Dafa—the true Fa introduced to the universe to save sentient beings.
I just wanted to tell people that Dafa is good, so I started to distribute some truth clarification materials. In the summer of 2002, I was reported by people who were poisoned by the CCP’s lies, and I was illegally detained in a brainwashing center for more than a month.
My daughter who lives in another city got married more 10 years ago. She asked me to help take care of her child so I moved in with her. Practitioners from my hometown helped me connect with a fellow practitioner called Ms. Zhang who lived near my daughter.
The first time we met she was so kind and it seemed as if we had met somewhere before. She’s in her 70s, but looks much younger and has no wrinkles on her face. She invited me to study the Fa at her home as she lives alone.
Ms. Zhang goes out to clarify the truth in the morning and we study Falun Dafa’s main text, Zhuan Falun, in the afternoon. I felt very awkward when I read the Fa aloud as I could not pronounce a single character, especially the word “Lao” when trying to say “Teacher [Lao Shi in Chinese].” I just couldn’t get the sound out.
We couldn’t study very much together this way. Ms. Zhang didn’t mind—instead she always encouraged me with a smile, and said, “Calm down, don’t rush. Rushing is also an attachment.” I think Master was helping me to enlighten through Ms. Zhang. My reading improved and Ms. Zhang was even happier about this than I was.
We studied the Fa together for more than two years before she moved away. Recalling those difficult yet wonderful times, I feel very touched and happy.
Ms. Zhang introduced me to another practitioner, Ms. Sun. She is in her 60s and also very nice. We study the Fa together in the afternoon. She repeatedly told me not to rush, to read slowly and carefully, making sure I keep the Fa in my heart, and don’t worry about saving face.
As I continued reading, I gradually became more relaxed, and my reading became smoother with less stuttering.
After we finished reading Zhuan Falun, we would also study Master’s recent lectures. By fall last year, we had read all of the recent lectures twice. For other practitioners, reading the Fa may be easy, but for me it has been incredibly hard.
I finally overcame my stutter and can read the Fa fluently. Now there are six Dafa practitioners in our Fa study group. It’s hard to imagine that I can read the Fa aloud in front of so many practitioners. The practitioners who recently joined our Fa study group don’t know that I used to stutter—they all say I read the Fa very clearly.
Now I am no longer afraid of clarifying the truth face to face. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Master and thank fellow practitioners’ for their selfless help and tolerance.
