(Minghui.org) An 84-year-old man in Jinan City, Shandong Province, has been denied visits with his family since he was admitted to prison to serve 1.5 years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Tian Shulin was arrested on September 29, 2025, during a police sweep of local Falun Gong practitioners. He was first held at the Jinan City Third Detention Center, and was later transferred to the Zhangqiu District Detention Center.
Mr. Tian appeared in the Zhangqiu District Court on May 20 and June 22, 2026, before he was sentenced to 18 months and fined 5,000 yuan. He was sent to the Shandong Province Prison on July 22. The prison barred his family from visiting him, and said the earliest possible visit would be on September 22.
