People Praise Falun Dafa at Agricultural Show in Western Australia

Sept. 16, 2026 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Perth, Australia

(Minghui.org) The 179th York Agricultural Show was held in the Shire of York, Western Australia’s oldest inland town, on September 5, 2026. Falun Dafa practitioners were invited to participate. They demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution.

York is located in the Avon Valley, 97 kilometers (60 miles) east of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The York Agricultural Show is one of the town’s largest events and is organized by the York Agricultural Society, which stands as the state’s oldest existing agricultural society. Established in 1840—just a decade after the first European settlement of the Avon Valley—the Society continues a tradition nearly two centuries in the making, bringing together history, agriculture, and community spirit every year. The event features amusement rides, live entertainment, music, food and drink, market stalls, animal displays, agricultural exhibits, equestrian events, and fireworks.

People Condemn the Persecution

Marissa is a senior high school student at Northam High School, and is also taking an applied digital technology course at Northam Regional TAFE. Marissa said she wants to do something good for the world and said, “I like the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

“I think we should do more to stop this persecution. Why do that to someone’s life and family? [The CCP] doesn’t care about people. It’s horrible; why take them away from their families? And to think that they are harvesting these people’s organs. They are murdering practitioners.

“Maybe get the news channels to help raise more awareness, sign more petitions, get more volunteers. We should do more to get this information out there.”

Emily from North Perth attended the York Agricultural Show, and said she’s familiar with Falun Dafa and has seen Shen Yun. She immediately came to the Falun Dafa booth, watched practitioners do the exercises, and she chatted with them.

“The Falun Dafa exercises are graceful, peaceful, and nonviolent. The Chinese government feels threatened [by Falun Dafa]. The persecution is very tragic,” Emily said.

Emily wants to tell the people in China, “Open up your hearts. Every citizen should be entitled to feel and do what they want to do. They should have freedom as long as they are not harming anyone else. We should send love to those practitioners who are persecuted in China.”

Richard Wishart, a retired schoolteacher who taught arts and ceramics, talked with practitioners and took materials because he was interested in learning about Falun Dafa and the ongoing persecution in China.

He had previously heard about Falun Dafa, but not in depth. After he learned about the persecution he signed the petition and said, “People have to take everyone as they are, rather than putting them down. Everyone needs to live in companionship with each other.”
