[Mainland China] News agency collaborates with police department to concoct news attacking Falun Gong
Recently, I was quite stunned to hear the following news. After the suppression of Falun Gong started in China, the leader of a news agency announced at a meeting, "Recently, we coordinated closely with the 6.10 Office [note: this is the police department's special agency that deals with Falun Gong] and published several more articles." It turns out that these reports published by the news agency were not written by reporters based on interviews, but were concocted totally by the police department, which demanded that the news agency publish them under the name of the reporters. Afterwards, several reporters personally interviewed some practitioners and realized that all the articles concocted by the 6.10 Office were fabricated. When practitioners asked them if this (the interview) would be published, they said with a shrug, "How can we publish this under such environment?"
[Mainland China] Many Beijing veteran practitioners stepped forward to validate Dafa
On October 1st, many former practice site assistants and respected veteran practitioners in Beijing broke through the state of "genuine cultivation at home" and went to Tiananmen Square. They brought along many practitioners who used to stay at home. They brought more than ten banners and many fliers. They said they finally realized that the so called "genuine cultivation at home" during the past year was actually the inability to let go of the attachment of life and death, and being controlled and taken advantage of by demons. They said every practitioner who wished to reach Consummation must take the test towards Consummation, just like every student hoping to go to college cannot avoid taking the entrance exam. The subject of the test is: "Validate the Fa with reason, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and offer people salvation with benevolence." They wanted to "step forward from humans" and consummate themselves (note: complete their cultivation) while validating the Fa.
[Mainland China] In Changchun, people read Dafa flyers
Around 7:30am on October 1st, residents of Changchun came out as usual. Many old people gathered in front of the posted Dafa flyers and read silently. Some old people said, "How come I haven't read this?" A young man tried to tear it off but after reading the title, he started to read the flyer carefully.
At 9:30am, although two flyers on a wall had been torn off, one flyer was virtually left untouched. Two young men were reading it.
At 2:30pm, there were still intact flyers in some streets and people were reading them. Those posted in the dormitory buildings of some factories are still intact.
[Mainland China] Scenes from the Tiananmen Square on October 1st, 8am10am
We arrived at the Tiananmen Square around 6am. After 7am, there were still several hundred thousand people on the square, including many Dafa practitioners. Many gathered between Tiananmen and the People's Heroes Monument. There were also many practitioners around the national flag post.
At 8:15am, a middle-aged woman (probably a practitioner) was arrested, and practitioners near the flag post started to unfurl the banners. Many police and plainclothes agents on the square communicated through two-way radios and rushed towards the practitioners in groups. At this time, several groups of practitioners unfurled the banners around the flag and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" There were about twenty practitioners in each group. They held the banners firmly and this scene lasted for about ten minutes. The police quickly put the practitioners in vans and took them away. As far as I saw, more than ten vans took away 200 to 300 practitioners.
The police and plainclothes agents were extremely vicious. They brutally beat practitioners with electric batons and kicked them to the ground, no matter whether they were elderly, children, or pregnant women. I saw them beating a practitioner's head badly with electric batons. I also saw a 7-8 month pregnant woman being dragged to a police van. The practitioners were brutally beaten again in the van. Many tourists were watching. When police saw people taking pictures, they either exposed the film or even threw the camera to the ground. I saw a foreign reporter doing a live report to his headquarters though an earphone.
Around 9:30am the police started a curfew and many police and plainclothes agents cleared the square. Street cleaning vehicles were brought in to clean the ground. The four subway exits leading towards Tiananmen Square were all blocked. So were all the square entrances. There were about thirty police at each entrance.
When I left, many police cars were still assembling towards the Square. Meanwhile the police were checking people's bags in the streets and especially at the subway and railway stations.
[Mainland China] Scenes from Tiananmen Square on the National Dayelderly, children, and pregnant women were beaten and arrested
Today, Tiananmen Square was a sea of people. Many people got up early to come here to see the flag-hoisting ceremony. There were sentinels everywhere in the square, and there were also many plainclothes agents. Rows of military police sat in the underground pedestrian crossings. Many police vans and buses were parked behind the temporarily built Sun Yet-Sen Memorial on the southern side of the People's Heroes Memorial. These policemen were probably for arresting Dafa practitioners. After the ceremony, the crowd gradually left the Square. At around 8:10am, the police started to search the bags of those tourists whom they suspect as being Dafa practitioners. If the tourists refused to be searched, they were immediately taken away. Several Dafa practitioners were interrogated and taken away this way. Around 8:20 am, two male Dafa practitioners unfurled a big banner on the southern side of the flag post in the square. It is 4 meters long with red characters on yellow background. The banner reads: "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance". Before the banner was completely opened, several plainclothes agents rushed to seize the banner from the practitioners' hands. Other Falun Gong practitioners nearby, including gray-haired grandmas, eight to nine-year-old little practitioners, and pregnant women, immediately stepped forward to protect the banner. Many of them were elderly, women and children; they used every effort to keep the banner from the police and shouted: "Falun Dafa is righteous!" "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." "Falun Dafa is good!" "Return innocence to our Teacher and Dafa!" Many practitioners distributed flyers about the truth of Falun Gong on the Square. The police dragged and beat practitioners wildly. They slapped the faces and hit the heads of practitioners who were shouting, "Falun Dafa is good." Several policemen beat a male practitioner. A plainclothes agent rushed in and jumped to kick his belly and another policeman used a two-way radio to forcefully hit his temples. One police even used his two-way radio to hit an 8 or 9-year-old practitioner's head; when the child was pushed to the ground, the policeman stepped on his arm to walk over the child.. Since the banner was very long, the police and practitioners were in a stalemate for about half an hour before the practitioners were sent to a van. Chinese and foreign tourists witnessed the police's brutal beatings, which aroused public indignation. Some said: "Why do you beat people? If they really did something wrong, you can educate them, why the beating?" Some said with a sense of justice: "Stop the beating!" ... The police panicked about the flyers; they picked up the flyers on the ground and seized them from tourists' hands. According to people in the know, police arrested several buses of practitioners, and they were immediately sent to somewhere in Changping County and detained.
[Mainland China] At around 6am on the morning of October 1st, after watching the National flag hoisting ceremony, a large number of practitioners started unfurling and raising Falun Dafa banners on Tiananmen Square. Uniformed and plainclothes police came in to seize the banners, then kicked and pummeled the practitioners. Some tourists photographed the events, but their cameras were destroyed [by the police]. More and more practitioners gathered in Tiananmen Square. Meanwhile, more than one hundred police minivans were brought to the square. About 1pm, a lot of practitioners were taken away. At 3pm, another large group of practitioners was seized and taken away. The police minivans were packed so tightly that the doors would not shut. Policemen then cleared the square and checked tourists' identifications carefully. It was estimated that there were more than 100,000 practitioners near Tiananmen Square and around Beijing.
[Mainland China] What is the difference between the police and lawbreakers?
On the night on September 28, 2000, policemen surrounded No. 2 building in Yuhuixili of Chaoyang district in Beijing. The reason was that Apartment 3-602 was the home of one Falun Dafa practitioner, Li Yan. After Li Yan rebuked the policemen who had attempted to break into her apartment illegally, the policemen closely monitored her 24 hours a day in order to prevent her from going to validate Dafa at Tiananmen Square on National Day. A police car was parked outside the building where she lived, and there were always 2 to 3 people inside the car and 1 or 2 plainclothes agents lingering around the building. On the morning of October 1st (National Day), when Li Yan's mother went shopping, she found three plainclothes policemen laying on the ground at the entrance of the building. This was their method to prevent Li Yan from going out. It was not easy to differentiate them (policemen) from lawbreakers and beggars. It was hard to believe that this was the image of the people's policemen.
[Mainland China] The atmosphere in Harbin was tight during the National Day
October 1st, 2000 is here. The situation in Harbin is as tight as that of Beijing last year.
It is known to a lot of practitioners who went to appeal in Beijing last fall that there was at least one to ten policemen at each entrance of the subway and many police vehicles could be found in the streets. We had thought the situation in Harbin would be different.
But on October 1st of this year, there was a plainclothes policeman every 5 meters on the main streets, and there were police cars at the ends of the mid-sized streets. In addition, there was a policeman every 2 to 3 meters at the entrances of big shopping centers or in pedestrian streets. They did nothing but watch everyone go by. There was no difference from the situation in Beijing last year.
It was said that during October 1st, most big work units were asked to transfer some personnel to monitor Falun Gong practitioners' activities in the neighborhoods, for fear of practitioners distributing Dafa materials and group practicing. Those people have been doing these espionage activities since the end of September.
[Mainland China] Police in Dalian check every vehicle leaving for Beijing
Nowadays, police in Dalian force every passenger boarding trains, buses, or ships to vilify Dafa or slander our Teacher. If the passengers refused, they would be interrogated or detained illegally. The day before yesterday, many practitioners were detained illegally. Dalian is the so-called "Northern Pearl" city and this is the season where many tourists from all over the world visit Dalian. These activities are infringing upon people's human rights and even the tourists' rights, as well as damaging the image of Dalian.
[Mainland China] Police in Sichuan province detained Dafa practitioners before National Day
On September 28th, police began to arrest Dafa practitioners in Zitongqiao of Chengdu City. Police also said that a large number of practitioners had been arrested in Zizhong and Neijiang area of Sichuan province.
