[Minghui] Note from the Minghui editors
Recently many international human rights organizations, legal specialists, and foreign governmental agencies have started working with overseas Falun Gong practitioners to collect detailed evidence of practitioners being persecuted in China. In order to make this work progress more smoothly, when supplying reports to Minghui about practitioners being persecuted in China, everyone is asked to please try to include the detailed facts of both the practitioners being victimized and also the parties directly responsible. It will help the international media and human rights organizations perform their independent investigations and set up case files. Furthermore, this will make it possible to file lawsuits against the responsible parties outside of China in the future. (When publishing the reports, Minghui will take steps to protect the identities of the victims and sources of the news reports.) Thanks for your continued support and cooperation!
[Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Wang Lixia killed by the local police
Wang Lixia, approximately 46-years-old, lived in the village of Yushuli, Balibao County, Shuangta District, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested on September 5, 2000 by the Shuangta District Police Department and detained at the Chaoyang 2nd Detention Center. She held a hunger strike for 13 days and was released on the 15th day. Before she was released, the police agreed to give back her copy of Zhuan Falun but did not keep their word. So after she returned home, she asked her husband to carry her on his back and go to the Shudangta Police Department to get the book back (her legs had become so swollen that she was no longer able to walk on her own). The police refused to give her the book back, but instead they threw her into the detention center again. She went on another hunger strike for 9 days, and the police tried to force-feed her. The feeding tube punctured her mouth and left a gaping hole there. On October 9, the guards at the detention center realized that she was on the verge of death and carried her back to her home, where she passed way later that day.
[Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] The Chaoyang Labor Camp filled to its capacity with Falun Gong practitioners
According to practitioners who are being held at the Chaoyang Labor Camp, the authorities are planning to release some practitioners in November to make room for practitioners who were arrested around October 1st (the Chinese National Day). The labor camp is now filled to its capacity with Falun Gong practitioners.
[Beijing] Truth-clarifying flyers and banners continue to appear in Beijing
On the morning of October 27, more than 20 Falun Gong banners appeared on the overpass bridges of many major highways in Beijing, including the 3rd East Loop, the 3rd North Loop, the 2nd East Loop and the 2nd West Loop. Large numbers of Falun Gong flyers were seen in the subway stations, shopping centers, hospitals and bus stations.
In October, practitioner Wang Caizheng, 37-years-old and from the Beijing district of Chaoyang, was sentenced to 1 year at the labor camps for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She had been previously arrested and detained twice for making an appeal for Falun Gong and passing out flyers.
[Shandong Province] Arrested Shandong practitioners fill labor camps
According to reliable sources, the authorities in Shandong have arrested so many practitioners that there is no more room at the Wangcun Labor Station. Practitioners from the Jiaodong area had to be moved to the Qingdao Labor Station, causing a lot of anxiety for the captain and the guards there. They said that they did not know how to "re-educate" the practitioners, as neither physical beatings nor verbal abuse seemed to work at all. The captain has established a new platoon to supervise the practitioners, choosing 10 guards with superior service records to staff the new platoon in an attempt to "transform" the practitioners. The guards who were picked were not happy at all with their new assignments. They said that once they got to know the practitioners, they themselves would more likely be "transformed," instead of the other way round.
At this time, there has been no report of practitioners being physically abused in the Qingdao Labor Station. It takes pride in being named a model labor camp by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security. Their priorities are to prevent two things from happening, prisoners breaking out of the labor camp and prisoners dying inside the labor camp. Their phone number is 0532-7896501.
[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner sentenced to 2 years at the labor camps for refusing to curse
On November 8, Dalian practitioner Zhang Jin was sentenced to 2 years at the labor camps. She was arrested on September 28 at the local bus station on her way to Beijing. In an effort to prevent practitioners from going to Beijing, the police asked each passenger to curse against Master Li and Falun Dafa before s/he could board the bus. Zhang Jin refused to do so and was taken into the police custody. She was thrown into the local drug rehabilitation center for a total of 40 days and fined 2900 Yuan (about 3 months of an average salary). She has been on a hunger strike for the past 16 days. She has a 15-month-old baby at home, and there is no one around to care for the baby.
[Mainland] Practitioners arrested when going out to post flyers late on night
Practitioners in a certain southern Chinese city were arrested when they went out to post Falun Gong flyers late at night. Supposedly the police had been hiding there for past three nights waiting for practitioners to come back there to post more flyers. Practitioners are asked to wait for a suitable length of time to pass before going back to places where they had posted flyers before. There are many places where we can put up the posters - mailboxes, grocery stores, supermarkets, parking lots, fast food restaurants, bookstores, movie theaters, and even discussion forums at various popular Internet sites. Do not leave predictable tracks for the police to trace.
[Beijing] More than ten practitioners arrested in the Beijing suburb of Miyun
So many Falun Gong truth-clarifying flyers were posted in the towns and villages around Miyun that the local police described them as "covering the entire sky and ground." During the past few days, the local authorities have arrested more than ten practitioners, including Tian Huilan, from their homes. Some practitioners were taken away in the middle of the night.
[Chengdu, Sichuan Province] Chengdu police ransack the homes of practitioners
On November 8, the Chengdu police searched the homes of many practitioners. In the district of Shuangqiao, the homes of a practitioner with the surname of Xie and an elderly couple named Liu were ransacked. A few practitioners were miraculously protected from the search, including one who "accidentally" locked himself out and was not able to go home that day. All of us felt the power of the Dafa deeply and realized that as long as we let go of our fears and attachments, we will triumph over evil.

Wang Liqun, 39-year-old owner of a small business, is known as a kind and generous person. Li Ruihua, 48, is a retired worker. She was arrested when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 1999 and was held at the local detention center for more than a month. When she was released again, yet another practitioner went to visit her in her home. The police called it another illegal gathering and detained her for another 30 plus days with an additional fine of 2,200 Yuan (more than the two months of an average salary). Jiao Lili, 33, was arrested in Beijing when she went there to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 1999. She was held at the local detention center for 1 month. After she was released, she went back to Beijing during the Chinese New Year Festival (around February) and was arrested again when she performed the Falun Gong exercises on Tiananmen Square. Afterwards, she was detained for another 40 days. During her detention, the police repeatedly beat her, yet she truly followed Master Li's teaching of "when someone hits you, do not hit back. When someone verbally abuses you, do not respond." The police took her away without cause this April, and she has been sentenced to 1 year at the labor camps.
Tiao Qikui, 37, is a college graduate and an accountant. He was arrested in Beijing when he went there to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 1999. He was released after serving a 1-month long detention. Later on, he was arrested again for performing Falun Gong exercises in his own home. In April of 2000, the police arrested him once again without cause and sentenced him to 1 year at the labor camps.
Cao Mingli, 36, and Zhang Zhihe, 39, are both farmers. The police caught them in March of 2000 on their way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They were each detained for a month and released from the detention center after paying a large fine. After they were released from the detention center, the police from their own village refused to let them go. They were held at the Senior Citizen Center for more than 20 days and then at the local police station for another 20 days. They notified the police on July 8 that they were planning to leave town in search of work. However, when they returned home on August 8 for the birthday of Cao's mother, the police arrested them again. They have both been sentenced to 1 year at labor camps.
Wang Yuxia, 39, is a farmer. She was arrested in Beijing when she went there to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 1999. She was detained for more than 60 days and then released. She suffered a great deal during her detention and held a hunger strike for 12 days. In July of 2000, when she went to appeal to the local government on behalf of Falun Gong, she was arrested again. The police tortured her before sentencing her to 1 year at the labor camps. Her husband was also beaten and is permanently handicapped as a result of the injuries.
Other practitioners who have been sent to the labor camps include Yang Xuexue, Zhang Wenjuan, Lu Yarong, and Duo Xiaoyan. All the above-mentioned practitioners are serving time at the Pingantai 1st Labor Station in the district of Honggu, Lanzhou City.
Many other practitioners have been arrested and detained for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Their terms of detention ranged from 22 days to 45 days. They also were fined anywhere from 200 Yuan to 2,200 Yuan.
