Not long ago, Minghui published an article about Fa promoting week on a college campus. Practitioners in Michigan were deeply inspired, and then sent emails introducing Falun Gong and the current situation in China to more than 500 professors in major universities throughout the whole state, as well as inquiring about giving lectures there. During the process of sending emails, we gradually received some responses and many people showed a strong interest. Among them was a professor in the Department of Criminology, at Wayne State University, who took the initiative and asked us to give a lecture in his class from the perspective of criminology. We happily accepted this offer.
On the morning of November 16, two practitioners came to the university with Dafa materials and an overhead projection presentation. We first showed the 8 min. introduction tape, and then from the point of view regarding "criminals encouraged by the [Chinese] government", a practitioner gave a detailed account of Falun Gong before and after the crackdown, and the persecution of practitioners. To meet the course requirements, practitioners elaborated on the Falun Gong issue from 3 perspectives:
- The campaign against Falun Gong is autocratically made by only a few people in the government;
- A few people abuse their power and deliver their orders below, which goes beyond the national constitution and laws. Moreover, public safety officials, prosecutors and policemen commission the criminals themselves. This behavior itself violates the constitution and laws.
- Simultaneously as the brutal persecution is going on, the government blocks propaganda, education and public news media so that people are unable to know the truth, and therefore hides the on-going outrageous behavior.
The video tape" Falun Gong: The real story II" was shown after the lecture. During the questions afterwards, the professor of Criminology and his students proposed some in-depth questions, such as whether the 4/25 event (note: the 10,000 practitioners appealing at Tiananmen Square) of last year, was held to draw media attention; and the comparison was made between the persecutions of Falun Gong and religions like Christianity. Practitioners answered their questions one by one. After the lecture, this professor mentioned that he is currently sponsoring a conference about human rights and hoped we could attend.
In this introduction of Falun Dafa to professors and students, our major realization was that we have to give concise answers, and not avoid questions. If a question needs to be explained in many words, then we are actually proving to have an insufficient understanding of this aspect. Moreover, the effect of the answer cannot be good.
