[China] Flyers Appeared on Streets
On the morning of July 7, many flyers about the truth of Falun Dafa appeared on streets, public areas, and bus stations in a city. Some residence houses and stores also received flyers sent by Falun Gong practitioners. This was a new phenomenon in some cities in China. In the near future, more and more people will learn about the truth of Falun Dafa and make their own judgments.
[Beijing] The Suffering of No. 001 in Dongcheng Detention Center
She was 64 years old, and her name was unknown. She was detained in the Dongcheng detention center, numbered 001.
She is a Falun Gong practitioner. On May 13, she went to Tiananmen Square to let people know that Falun Gong is a righteous practice. When she saw a policeman kicking a Falun Gong practitioner after pushing him to the ground, she told the policeman: "Young man, please do not beat people. It is illegal to beat people." The policeman asked her: "Who are you?" She answered: "I am a practitioner of Falun Dafa." Then the policeman pushed her onto the police van and later threw her into the Dongcheng detention center.
In the detention center, the old lady told the interrogator that Falun Gong is a virtuous spiritual practice that had freed her from serious illnesses. She said she would continue to practice Falun Gong and she requested to be released from the detention center because she had done nothing wrong.
However, her request was rejected. So she started hunger strike, which was the only way that she could use to pretest the illegal detention. One and a half days later, when the police started to force-feed her, she suddenly fell onto the ground, and her pulse became very weak. But the guard did not take any action until several hours later. Currently her status is unknown.
[Radio Free Asia] World Falun Dafa Radio Sent Open Letter to Chinese Government Protesting the Interference with Its Broadcasting
News from Hong Kong: The staff members of the World Falun Dafa Radio wrote an open letter to the Chinese president Jiang Zemin to protest China's interference with its broadcasting using strong noises, which was a violation of the international norm.
As reported by the Hong Kong Information Center for Human Rights and Democratic Movements, Falun Dafa Radio received good comments from the audience after its first broadcasting to the mainland of China on July 1. But since July 2, its broadcasting has been interfered by the regime using strong noises at the same frequency. As a result, the Falun Dafa Radio wrote a protest letter to the Chinese government. Currently, the Falun Dafa Radio is still broadcasting from 10 to 11pm Beijing time.
[Beijing] Persecutions against Falun Gong Practitioners in Fangshan Police Station
On the evening of June 24, when I and another eight Falun Gong practitioners were having dinner together, the police from Beijing Fangshhan Police Station broken in unlawfully. After severely beating us, the police handcuffed us. Two of us had blood on the face because of the brutal beating. After that, they called in the head and all the people of the village. I told the head of the village that what they were doing was against the law. But the head claimed that he was the king of the village and that we should follow his order as long as we were in his village. I told him that he was doing a bad deed. He then slapped me, saying: "I am violating the law, what can you do to me?"
A practitioner was holding her three-year-old daughter in his arm. The police yelled at the small girl. But she was very courageous, and her calmness moved all of the practitioners.
The police beat us while yelling at us. At night, they handcuffed us from the back, a group of two, for six hours. After interrogation, it was already two o'clock in the morning. They then stuffed us in a truck and sent us to the Fangshan Security Office. We started hunger strike immediately after we were sent in. On the next morning, the police forced us to reveal our names and addresses, but we resolutely refused. Later, they pushed me to the ground, and then they dragged me for about ten meters (I didn't wear shoes). After that, they back-handcuffed (with one hand coming down from the shoulder and the other hand coming up from the lower back) for nearly two hours. Later, I told the policemen that they were violating the law. In particular, I told them that the article 258 of the criminal law prohibits tortures. They then took off the handcuff from me. We were detained in the Security Office for two days. At 9 o'clock of the second night, a policeman started to interrogate me. I wouldn't tell him anything. He then kicked me, and slapped my face violently. The next day, we were transferred to the Fangshan detention center. We were required to shout "Report" before being interrogated. If we refused to do that, we would be beaten or kicked. Our hunger strike was still continuing. On the fourth day, we still refused to tell them our names and addresses. As a result, they put handcuffs and shackles on us, and sent us to a hospital for force-feeding through nose. It was a very painful experience. Some of us were bleeding because of the brutal force-feeding.
Every time they interrogated me, I would just tell them that I didn't want to say anything. They then ordered four inmates to punish me. Some yelled at me and some beat me. But still I didn't say anything.
[Beijing] The recent status of Ms. Zhao Xin, who suffers fractured spine due to police brutality
Ms. Zhao Xin, a practitioner of Falun Dafa, who suffers fractured spine due to police brutality, has been under intensive care in Haidian Hospital for almost half a month. According to the hospital, she is still in critical condition.
Ms. Zhao cannot speak now. But her consciousness is clear. The Haidian police station refused to cover all the medical expenses, although they were responsible for the devastating spinal injury of Ms. Zhao.
Mr. Zhao's family members have been trying to file a lawsuit, but the procuratorate refused to handle the case. Overwhelmed by sadness, Ms. Zhao's father also fell ill. The whole family is in despair.
[Beijing] "How could you fine such an obscure place?"
The State Council Appealing Office, located in Yongdingmen of Beijing, is in such an out-of-the-way place that one can hardly find it. After the communist regime banned Falun Gong last July, the only small sign of that office was taken off. So currently, the supposedly most prestigious appealing office of People's Republic of China does not even have a sign! When receiving Falun Gong practitioners, the most frequent greeting from the staff members is: "How could you find such an obscure place!" Ever since last July, thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested and beaten there.
[Beijing] Police, Interrogators, and Guards Are Violating the Law
I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. On June 25, 2000, I went to Tiananmen Square to tell the world that Falun Dafa is righteous. After being brutally beaten by police, I was pushed onto the police van, and driven to the Tiananmen Square Police Station. Because there were so many Falun Dafa practitioners detained there, I was transferred to Shijingshan Sports Stadium on that afternoon. I slept in the Stadium over the night. On the next day, I was forced to stand under the burning Sun in the heat of 40 degrees. Towards the evening, I was escorted to the Chaoyang detention center. At 6:30pm of June 27, the police started to interrogate me. Because I refused to reveal my name, the interrogator slapped me three times. At about 8pm, another interrogator started to work on me. After I was sent back to the cell, the police officer ordered the inmates to punish me. Clearly, the law-enforcing people are violating the law themselves.
[Sichuan]
Ms. Miu Qizhen and another four practitioners from Chengdu city went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They were escorted back on June 24 and since then, they have been detained illegally in a small room of Baohe village government. It was said that they would be detained until the end of July, and after that they would be transferred to detention center. Their family members were demanded to pay 5000 Yuan as penalty. Ms. Miu was already fined 10,000 Yuan, and her clinic (worth 200,000 Yuan) was also confiscated. Mr. Wang Changhong, a practitioner from Pengzhou city, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After he finished serving the 15 days of detention, he was detained again in the Li-an village government. The government officials threatened his family members that if they refused to pay the penalty of 5,000 Yuan, Ms. Wang will be sent to labor camp. As a result, his family members had to pay the penalty.
