Recently, a dozen self-labeled "practitioners of Falun Gong" from Hong Kong and overseas have repeatedly gone to the huge Tiantan Buddha Statue at the Baolian Temple located on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. They claimed that they were waiting for the huge Buddha Statue's "spirit to make an appearance." Moreover, they unfurled banners and held a parade over the objections of the Temple. Regarding this matter, the speaker of the Hong Kong Falun Dafa Research Society has pointed out that it was an incident that was meant to do serious damage to the reputation of Falun Dafa and had been organized by a few people with ulterior motives. Among them, there were some former practitioners of Falun Dafa who went astray because of their strong attachments. Some were actually hired, operated and controlled by the Chinese special agents. These people have done a lot of things to undermine Falun Dafa.
Falun Dafa emphasizes the improvement of one's xinxing (mind or heart nature, moral character) and levels and teaches its practitioners not to pursue the capabilities developed during one's cultivation process and the scenes in other dimensions seen through one's third eye. Otherwise, one would go astray away from the principles of Falun Dafa. Some people advocated the visions that they saw with strong attachments or the things that they made up with ulterior motives. They also gave strange interpretations and drew farfetched analogies attempting to set off a specific reaction. What they did was completely against the principles of Falun Dafa and was absolutely not how a genuine practitioner should behave.
Earlier, Chinese special agents made use of some pieced "abnormal phenomena" and "lucky appearances" to predict that the Buddha statue would soon "make its presence". They attempted to entice some practitioners to go to Hong Kong to pay a visit to the huge Buddha's "spirit making an appearance". For example, a few people from Japan who had been doing damage to Falun Dafa went to different places to arouse practitioners who did not know the truth. They were resisted by most local practitioners. In other districts, there were a few people doing similar things. When a few of them were denied entrance to Hong Kong, they seized the opportunity to create trouble and to advocate the so-called "the Buddha's making its presence"" to the news media.
As early as July 1 the news reported that this group of people would "pay a visit to the Buddha's spirit making an appearance" on Lantau Island. The Hong Kong Falun Dafa Research Society immediately issued a public statement that this matter, that was damaging the reputation of Falun Dafa had nothing to do with practitioners worldwide, including Hong Kong. Nor did it have anything to do with Falun Dafa itself; those people who took rash actions at will and could not realize their errors would not be treated as the genuine practitioners or disciples of Falun Dafa. They themselves should be responsible for the consequences of their actions. The media reported that most practitioners would make a clean break with the above few people. Some media reported the harmful deeds of the Chinese special agents. In general, the media knew the facts. However, some of the media still mistakenly reported that these people were practitioners of Falun Dafa. We hope the media will clarify this matter as soon as possible.
In order to defend Falun Dafa, some practitioners from Hong Kong went to Lantau Island to persuade those who might still have kind hearts to leave the path of undermining Dafa, before it became too late. They met the woman who was called "the true Master". Meanwhile, those people continued calling her "the Master". They expressed opinions that the woman was "an incarnation of a Tathagata" and "the spirit of the huge Buddha will make its appearance soon" etc. Those students who had tried to persuade them found out that they were close minded and left.
It must be pointed out that the few people who conspired in the above matter had close communications with the woman who was flattered to be called "the true Master" in the past. They collaborated with each other and held a news conference claiming to be spokespeople for Falun Dafa (Falun Gong). Their speech did not conform with, and was even against, the principles of Falun Dafa. They had planned to hold an international Falun Dafa conference even as they went further away from Dafa. In the end, they started to spread rumors such as "the Master will identify the disciples" and "the truth will make its presence" etc.
During this sequence of events, the practitioners from Hong Kong have come to realize more clearly that they must strictly follow the teachings of Teacher Li and keep reading the Falun Dafa books in order not to be interfered with by the demons, in order to better tell the truth of Falun Dafa to the public and "to assist the Teacher in the secular world".
