Cao Kai, male, 29, is a Ph.D student of the Institute of Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was arrested when visiting a practitioners home in Hainan and was detained in a local detention center for about half a month. On June 23, 2000, he was brought back to Beijing and locked up in the Bejing Police Department No. 7 Branch (where the big and important criminal cases are handled). When he was detained in the No. 7 Branch, his health deteriorated to the extremely dangerous point that it was no longer suitable for him to stay there. Therefore, about a month ago, he was transferred to the detention center in the Police Deparment of Haidian District (in Qinghe, Beijing). Later on, he was sent to the hospital in the detention center for emergency treatment. As for now, his case has been transferred to the Haidian District Investigation Bureau.
Since he was arrested in early June, Cao Kai has been on hunger strike for over 90 days. He had already been on hunger strike for over 50 days when he was sent to the hospital. It was said that he was carried to the hospital by two policemen. At that moment, he was so weak that he did not even have the strength to lift his eye lids. The hospital force fed Cao Kai via a tube through his nose. The tube has not been removed since then and Cao Kai was forced to wear it everyday. The hospital has set up specific times to do forced feeding and infusion everyday. Now Cao Kais body is extremely weak and only left with skin and bone. Atrophy of many organs has been found. His eyes have started bleeding and he is on the verge of death. Currently, the Investigation Bureau of Haidian District still wont let him go and are trying to find a lawyer to talk to him to change his mind. The Police Department and Investigation Bureau have tried very hard to block this information and they have told the people outside that Cao Kai is all right and healthy.
When Cao Kai was in school, he was a student of good character and scholarship. He attended his undergraduate study in Lanzhou University, where he was elected as the head of his class. He has many talents and has been awarded first-rate scholarships. In his junior year, his college study was suspended for two years due to his eye problem. Afterwards, he completed his undergraduate study with persistency and determination and got admitted to a Masters degree program at the Institute of Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. During his Masters degree program, he won a scholarship and was awarded the title of "Outstanding Graduate Student". Later, he continued his graduate study for a Ph.D degree.
Cao Kai started practicing Falun Dafa in May, 1995 (when he was a senior in college). Before that, he had serious eye problems and his eyes would bleed 2-3 times a month. In worse situations, they would bleed every week, and at any moment, the detachment of the retina could happen. He had to live on medications everyday. His eye sickness prevented him from reading, running and jumping. He could not conduct a normal life as a student, which made him suffer tremendously. Every time when the bleeding occurred, he could only lie in bed like a wasted person, without daring to make a slightest movement. Because of this, the university allowed him to suspend his study for two years for treatment. Some doctors suggested that he should go for a surgery and should not continue his study. They had warned him that if his eyes bleed one more time, he would go blind. Out of desperation, he searched for Chinese and western medical remedies, and practiced several types of healing Qigong. But none of them had brought any obvious effects. After he started practicing Falun Dafa, without any further treatment, his illness disappeared. He became full of energy and wouldnt feel tired even after working for 48 hours straight.
Cao Kai has benefited in both body and mind and is very determined in Falun Dafa. He also spent a lot of effort in promoting Dafa. Since July 22, 1999, he has been persecuted many times: In September 1999, he was detained for 15 days by the Haidian District Police Department when he and his wife were practicing exercises outside; On October 29, 1999, he was detained again when he went to the National Peoples Congress to appeal. During the detention, he went on hunger strike for 9 days to call for justice to Dafa with his life. On the 9th day of his hunger strike, he eyes started bleeding and he was sent to the hospital. On the 21st day, he was released on bail; In March 2000, he was arrested at his home in Beijing. After hunger strike for 5 days, his heart started beating too fast. Being afraid that he was going to die, the police released him; He was arrested again in July 2000 when he was sharing cultivation experience in Hainan and has been jailed since.
His parent are of old ages and live far away from Beijing. His wife was detained for one month last year after she went to the National Peoples Congress to appeal. She was then fired by her work unit and thus they lost income. Their apartment was also taken back by her work unit and they have no place to live. She will give birth to a baby in October and currently has nobody to look after her. A nice family has been destroyed to such extent.
Falun Dafa has saved Cao Kai out of suffering by giving him a second life. It has given him a health body and a pure heart and has enabled him to serve the society better. However, it is only because he practices Falun Dafa and believes in Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance), and because he wants to be a good person who looks lightly on personal fame and interest, and lives for the benefits of others, that he has been subjected to such inhumane and senseless tortures. Even on the verge of his death, the police would not let him go but instead keep him in suffering. It is unbelievable that there are such policemen on earth who are against the people
A 29-year old young man is about to be murdered. Kindhearted people, please help in any way to save his life in a hurry!
