As one of the Falun Gong promotional activities for this September in New York, the Falun Gong Tea Reception was held at 7:00 pm on September 5, 2000 in the Taiwan Kinsmen Center in Flushing, New York. About 200 people including the Falun Dafa practitioners from Taiwan and the New York metropolitan area, as well as people from all walks of life who were interested in Falun Gong attended this activity. The reception went on well in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. With the careful planning by the organizer, Falun Dafa practitioners from many parts of the world with different background were invited to attend the reception to share their cultivation experiences.
The first person who talked about his personal experience is the director of Taiwan Falun Dafa Association, Mr. Qingxi Zhang, who is also a professor in the Department of Economics, Taibei University. Professor Zhangs speech was followed by Mr. Manguan Ao, a chief physician, who shared his experience from several decades of his medical career, and concluded that every person has the unpredictable fate, but only Falun Dafa enable him to find the true answer to the meaning of life. Yuzhou Wang, a Ph.D. student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Pennsylvania, shared his personal understanding of current science. He said, "Science is not equal to truth. It is only a method used to verify truth. It is advised that kindhearted people should not be so limited within the frame of the modern science as to blindly size an elephant by only a single touch. If people go and genuinely learn about Falun Gong, they will find that Falun Gong is truly a supernormal science."
Dr. Jingduan Yang is currently practicing medicine in the United States. He further explained the essential reasons as to why Falun Gong could cure all kinds of diseases, even including those complicated diseases that are difficult to cure. He explained the reasons from different perspectives, such as the nature of the modern medical science, its limitation in curing diseases, the traditional Chinese medicine, the characteristic of Qigong treatment, etc. In addition, there were some other successful entrepreneurs and diplomats who were also present to share their experiences.
After all guest speakers finished their speeches, the participants started an informal discussion. A lady living in Flushing said sincerely, "I just heard about this Tea Reception and came in a hurry. Its been a worthwhile trip. After listening to the speeches, I have truly had a better understanding of Falun Gong." The practitioners who were present at the reception also felt that they had learned a lot during this event.
