[Minghui Net] On New Year's Eve, the heavy snow covered New Jersey State with a new white blanket. During the days that bid farewell to the outgoing year and that began to celebrate the new epoch, Dafa disciples in New Jersey launched another activity in order to tell the truth to the American people and collect signatures. The following are some of their experiences.
1. "She is my acupuncture doctor."
When some disciples were collecting signatures at a shopping center, a Chinese lady and her American husband passed by. Initially they had no intention to sign. When leaving the shopping center, this lady was suddenly astonished upon seeing the photo posters. "Isn't she Teng Chunyan?" she surprisingly asked. "You know her?" One disciple asked. "She is my acupuncture doctor!" the woman replied. Then the disciple told her that Teng Chunyan was imprisoned for revealing the Chinese government's conspiracy in detaining Falun Gong practitioners into psychiatric hospitals to torture them. The woman was really shocked and angry upon hearing this. She and her husband immediately signed the petition.
2. "I support you!"
The sunshine was bright on New Years' Day. Groups of people came to Duck Lake in South Orange City to ski. Standing on the one-foot deep snowfield, our disciples were collecting signatures from passers by. When an American lady passed by, she politely rejected when being asked to sign. After reading the posters, the lady returned. She had been standing in the snowfield for more than 10 minutes and finished reading all of the reports about the Chinese government's suppression of Falun Gong. In the end, she came close to the disciples and said, "I support you!" and signed.
3. "I know you."
A disciple couple collected signatures around a church near their home. Upon learning that the signatures were for supporting Falun Gong practitioners in China, passers by and people entering and exiting the church warm-heartedly signed. Some even told the couple, "I know you. I see you practicing in front of the library everyday." One person told them, "I am a Christian. Although I don't know about Falun Gong, I still know that the Chinese government is suppressing Christians. I think that it is equivalently wrong to suppress Falun Gong." Among the signers was a priest of the church.
4. "I'm signing to support Falun Gong, which is being suppressed in China!"
If it was said that one year ago very few American people knew about Falun Gong, then today it could be said that many American people have a rather deep understanding of Falun Gong. When we were collecting signatures at Duck Lake in South Orange City, half of the people said that they knew about Falun Gong. Some of them even said to me, "I know. It's the Falun Gong on Tiananmen Square." So 70~~80% of the people gladly signed. Some of them even immediately picked up a pen to sign upon hearing the words Falun Gong. When a lady, who had her child with her, was signing for us, her little girl curiously asked her, "Mom, why are you signing that?" That lady replied, "I'm signing to support Falun Gong, which is being suppressed in China."
