(Clearwisdom.net) Female practitioner Liu Huanqing from Handan City, Hebei Province, died from abuse after more than a year's illegal detention. Here are the details:
Liu Huangqing, female, 58 years old, was resident of Fuxing District, Handan City, Hebei Province. Authorities from the local police department detained her three times because her whole family -- she, her husband and her son -- were resolute in their practice of Falun Dafa. They continued to expose the evil and clarify the truth about Falun Dafa to the public. October 6, 2001 was the most recent time Liu and her husband were arrested in their home. They were subsequently sentenced to more than a year of illegal detention at Handan City No. 2 Detention Center. Liu was considered a "hardcore member" because of her unshakable belief in Falun Dafa. Authorities put her in heavy shackles and handcuffs, often beating and torturing her with an electric baton. The perpetrators are policemen with the last names Zhao and Cui. She suffered all kinds of physical and mental torture, causing her weight to drop from 156 lb to less than 88 lb. In an attempt to escape responsibility, police officials allowed Liu's family members to take her back home when they knew she was dying. She died within a month after she was sent home. Liu's son, Li Shitou, is a graduate student working on his Master's degree and also a faculty member at Tianjin University in Tianjin City. He was arrested for not giving up practicing Falun Gong and remains under detention. He was not allowed to see his mother when she was dying. Liu's husband, Li Gangcai, is still held in a detention center. The whole family was broken up.
We urge the release of all Falun Dafa practitioners who have been illegally sentenced, imprisoned and held in forced labor camps! Return the good reputation to our Teacher and all practitioners! We Falun Dafa practitioners in Handan City are sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate evil!
