1. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] The Savage Behavior of Police in Zhugou Town

During the past two years, police in Zhugou town have illegally sent 13 Dafa practitioners to jail, extorted practitioners of more than one million Yuan (Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan) , and illegally ransacked Dafa practitioners' homes. They said to Dafa practitioners: "If you are a murderer, an arsonist, or a thief, we don't care. But you are not allowed to practice Falun Gong."

Sadistic policemen Mu Chunyang (male) and Pan (male) once stripped female Falun Gong practitioners of their clothes, and using a pole with an iron hook at the end [used by firemen to fight fires] they clawed at the female practitioners' genitals and struck their breasts. The police also heated these metal hooks at the end of the poles until they were molten and glowing red, then burned the female practitioners' faces, leaving deep scars.

In winter, police poured water on the ground, then forced practitioners to sit there for more than 40 minutes while barefoot with their legs straight out. Police also forced practitioners to stand in a basin full of cold water until their feet froze in the water while at the same time hanging tires from the practitioners' necks. Policeman Zhang Faren struck practitioners' faces with a big wooden board. Policeman Lin Fuping shocked practitioners' faces with an electric baton, then extorted 3000 Yuan from each.

2. [Mainland China] The Recent Situation of a Female Dafa Practitioner and Her Son Who Was Almost Killed by Forced Abortion

I am the practitioner mentioned on the Internet who was almost forced to undergo an abortion. I attained Dafa in September, 1999. After I finished reading Zhuan Falun for a third time, I went to the Appeals Office of the State Council to appeal for Falun Dafa. I was arrested and after I was released I went back to my hometown to introduce Dafa to more people and to encourage the practitioners in my hometown to appeal. During the Spring Festival of 2001, while I was four months pregnant, police in my hometown arrested me. Surprisingly, in order to illegally send me to a labor camp, they sent me first to the city's birth control office to force me to have an abortion. I went on a hunger strike to protest. After 24 hours, knowing I was determined, police sent me to a detention center. I stayed on my hunger strike until the fourth day. When the police sent some fellow practitioners to my room, I started eating. Other practitioners posted my story on the web, for which my husband was interrogated. Under the pressure of public opinion, I was released after being illegally detained for two months.

My son is one year and five months old right now. He is healthy and lovely and has never had to take any medicine. He performs Heshi to our Teacher's portrait with his plump hands. During my two years of Dafa practice, I've deeply learned and appreciated our Teacher's benevolence and loving care for us.

3. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Orders from the City Government: You Will Be Detained If You Do Not Visit the Gallery Slandering Falun Dafa and Sign Your Names

On December 15, 2001, the Liaoyuan City Government, Jilin province, announced in a public document that all office workers would be forced to go visit a gallery displaying works slandering Falun Dafa, and that no one would be excused for any reason. The gallery is in the Fifth Middle School of Liaoyuan city. The document came with a note in bold font: "Those who do not visit the Gallery or those who do not sign their names (to support the slandering) will be detained immediately."

How unbelievable it is! In this way, if every level of the government issues such documents, we civilians will be in a terrible state! You never know when you'll be jailed! Such things as the National People's Congress and all the local "Legislative Bureaus" are useless and should now be abolished.

4. [Hebei Province] The Criminal Behavior of Local Police

In September, 2001 a practitioner from Ding county in Baoding City, Hebei province was in her home when the police came to arrest her. Her husband said, "She did nothing, why do you arrest her." Unable to give an answer, the police simply arrested both her and her husband, and released them after a 24-hour detention.

Another practitioner was forced to leave home after hearing that the police were going to illegally arrest practitioners. Police went so far as to arrest the practitioner's spouse as a hostage. To save the spouse, the practitioner was forced to attend a Brainwashing Class in Ding County.

One Dafa practitioner, a babysitter in Shijiazhuang city, was found by police and illegally forced to attend a brainwashing class. The police declared: "If the practitioners are not reformed, then they will be sent to a labor camp directly.

One Dafa practitioner in Qinhuangdao city, Hebei province was illegally sent to a forced labor camp for declaring that the "guarantee" wrote in the brainwashing class is void.

A Dafa practitioner became unable to take care of himself due to long-term detention. On September 3, 2001, half a month after his release, he escaped from the close surveillance of eight policemen. The police discovered this about half an hour after his escape. They then sent out policemen, security guards and local ruffians numbering over one hundred in total. They sent trucks, searchlights, broadcasting equipment etc. to search for the practitioner in vain. Police harassed the whole neighborhood, lying, saying that they were searching for a murderer.

5. [Shenyang, Liaoling Province] A Practitioner in Shenyang Is Missing and Possibly Kidnapped By Police

Practitioner Zhang Nijie of Huanggu District of Shenyang City disappeared in May 2001. Her whereabouts have been unknown since then. Since she remained always firm in her Falun Gong cultivation practice, we believe that local police have possibly kidnapped her.

6. [Guangzhou, Guangdong Province] The 610 Office of Chigang Street in Guangzhou Made False Accusations Against Falun Gong

Mr. Fu suffered a brain injury in the 1980s. He was diagnosed with traumatic mental disorder and also had various other illnesses. Before the '4.25' incident of 1999, when Fu heard that Falun Gong was good for one's health, he went to a local Falun Gong practice site to learn the Falun Gong exercises. According to Master Li's requirements in Zhuan Falun, patients who suffer mental disorders cannot practice Falun Gong. Early in 2001, the '610' Office sent him to a brainwashing class and intentionally detained him with many other practitioners, attempting to interfere with their cultivation practices. They also took pictures of Fu and videotaped him so they could show that Fu acquired a mental disorder and 'cultivation insanity' from practicing Falun Gong. Although practitioners strongly protested such slanderous propaganda, officers in the '610' Office kept spreading rumors about Falun Gong and using Fu as proof. Eventually, Fu's son 'invited' those officers to dinner, sent them gifts, and also spent another 30,000 Yuan on his father's case. After this he was finally allowed to bring his father home. A month later, the '610' Office forcibly took Fu again from his home. As Fu refused to go with them, dragging a chair tightly with his feet, they had to lift him and the chair to take him to the detention center.

A family living in Chigang Street was extremely poor because everyone in the family had lost their jobs. Using the excuse of taking care of this family's financial difficulties, the '610' Office employed two women from this family to forcibly monitor Fu's actions in the brainwashing class. However, the women did not receive their salaries for several months. It was learned that an officer who was working in the subdistrict resident office had received their salaries. Because he had found the jobs for this family, he withheld 200 Yuan for himself from their salaries each month.

These two employed 'supervisors' were so angry at the withholding of their salaries that they barbarously beat Fu causing numerous bruises on his body. The corrupt police officers just sat back and watched and did not stop the women's brutalities.

7. [Beijing] A Professor of the Mining University of China Is Kidnapped By the Police

According to the news on December 11, 2001, the police illegally detained Beijing practitioner Yang Shuo when she went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa. She was detained in the First Detention Center of Huairou County of Beijing and then transferred to the Haidian Public Security Sub-bureau Detention Center located in Qinghe County. She is currently in a brainwashing session. In the brainwashing classes two people from each practitioner's previous workplace are also required to attend the classes, 'accompanying' the practitioners and accepting the propaganda. Yang has not disclosed her name to the police but they identified her after checking pictures of known practitioners.

Yang Shuo is 62 years old and works in the Mining University of China as a professor. After she was detained, the local police station went to her workplace asking for information about her. They were told by Yang's supervisors and colleagues that she was a very nice lady. A few practitioners now send forth their righteous thoughts on the hour to eliminate vicious forces and help Yang Shuo get released.

8. [Beijing] A Practitioner Is Kidnapped During His Trip

In October 2001, practitioner Chen Xu, from Beijing, took a business trip from Wuhan, Hubei Province to Northeastern China. He read Falun Gong books and meditated on the train. Later on a policeman found him and attempted to stop his reading. Without any fear in his mind, Chen immediately started clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people around him. Until the train arrived in Tianjin City, he never stopped his promotion of Dafa. The police detained him at Tianjin station. Because Chen brought his ID with him during the trip, the police obtained his family information from his ID. Even under such a situation, Chen never cooperated with them and refused to say anything after being arrested and didn't give the police any opportunity to take advantage of him. Chen was first sent to Qinghe Detention Center, Beijing and then transferred to Tuanhe Detention Center. According to the news obtained a few days ago, the police force-fed him in the detention center. It could be deduced that Chen has already been on a hunger strike for a period of time.

9. [Southeastern China] Practitioners Successfully Held Several Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conferences

Recently, many practitioners in a city in southeastern China held a few experience-sharing conferences. There were about 40 practitioners participating in each conference. They learned from each other by exchanging their cultivation experiences. Under such special circumstances of history, these conferences turned out to be splendid sights! Through studying Teacher's new articles, practitioners further strengthened their confidence in eliminating those old vicious forces.

10. [Northeastern China] Practitioners Successfully Held A Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference

Practitioners in city in northeastern China held a cultivation experience sharing conference on December 8, 2001. They also invited practitioners from other cities to attend the conference. There were more than 20 participants. Through experience sharing, each participant achieved a large improvement in the understanding of Dafa. They also watched a VCD showing 36 Western practitioners validating Dafa in Tiananmen Square. This story touched all participants' hearts and played a very positive role in promoting Dafa locally. The conference lasted 4 hours. During the conference, practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts together on the hour to eliminate the evils. During both the trip to the conference and back home, a big Falun was seen rotating above their car. It was a magnificent sight!

11. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Please Show Concern for Mr. Lin Hongfei, a Persecuted Dafa Practitioner

Mr. Lin Hongfei was fired by the leaders (see below) of the Land-Tax Bureau of Dehui City, Jilin Province, because he practices Falun Gong. Facing illegal arrest, he was forced to become homeless leaving behind his family, wife, parents, and an infant younger than 2-years old. Under these terrible conditions, all are faced with tremendous hardship. We appeal to practitioners and all people with a kind heart the world over. Please show your concern for Lin and his family, and take action to stop the persecution.

12. [Pindu City, Shandong Province] Dafa Practitioners Are Arrested, Beaten, and Murdered by Police at Dongbeishan District

Since the beginning of November 2001, police madly arrested more than 20 practitioners from three townships, Jiudian, Zhuyun, and Yunshan. In early November three practitioners from Yunshan Township went to Beijing to appeal. Upon arriving there, they were quickly arrested and escorted back to the local police station where they endured interrogation and torture. Several days later, two of them were unconditionally released; however the other was sent away for several days. After this happened, the family received a box of ashes containing the cremated remains of the practitioner. Details of the case remain undisclosed.

On November 20, 2001, police of Jiudian Township burst into a meeting place where practitioners were holding an experience sharing conference and arrested more than ten practitioners illegally. Later, police also took three practitioners not present at the meeting from their homes, searching them illegally. Among the arrested were six practitioners from Yunshan Township. When Guo Chunlin, the director of the civic military of Yunshan Township came to Jiudian police station and recognized one practitioner from Yunshan, he instructed 5 or 6 police to brutally beat the practitioner. Guo even personally twisted and beat the practitioner's arms and cursed him. As a result, the practitioner's wrist was broken and fractured.

Six practitioners from Zhugou Township and Pindu District were taken to the Jiudian police station. They were handcuffed together in pairs and tortured extremely and cruelly according to witnesses. Then these police robbed the practitioners' homes of anything valuable, including grain, appliances and even light bulbs.

From these facts, people with kind hearts can distinguish the evil from the righteous.

13. [Dongguang County, Hebei Province] Persecution of Dafa Practitioners by the "610" Office, County Government, and the Police Bureau

Mr. Guo Shuhui, a government officer of Zhaowangzhen, Dongguang County, Hebei Province, left his home to avoid being illegally arrested for practicing Falun Gong several months ago. His whereabouts are unknown.

The "610" Office, County Government, and Police Bureau of Dongguang County conspired to arrange brainwashing classes to mentally persecute practitioners in order to make them give up their cultivation. The responsible individuals are Zuo Dexing, Wan Xijie, and Gong Jingwen.

In the absence of any legal procedure, Cheng Guijun (gender unknown), resident of Dongguang County, has been sentenced to 1 year of forced labor "re-education" because he/she went to Beijing to appeal. Now Cheng is locked up at the No. 5 brigade, Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, Hebei Province. Recently, Cheng has been enduring unimaginable torment in the labor camp and his/her health is deteriorating rapidly. On a hunger strike to protest illegal detention, Chen was beaten by the guards, leaving him/her in a critical state. With his/her poor health and under such brutality, we do not know how much longer he/she can endure. Chen has yet to be released. All human rights and related organizations, please show your concern for this serious case.

14. [Hejian City, Hebei Province] A Dafa Practitioner Is Detained and Sent to Forced Labor Camp

It was about 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon on November 15, 2001, when Dafa practitioner Bai Hongcang was working in his recycling shop and was illegally arrested by several plainclothes policemen. In a coordinated effort, they rushed in and forcibly took him away to the city detention center.

That night his family waited for him at home until very late. As they went out to search for him they were told that he was being held in a detention center. The next day, when Bai's uncle went to the detention center, he was told that Bai had been sent to Shijiazhuang Forced Labor camp for "re-education." Bai is being held in the No. 2 Forced Labor Camp, Shi Jiazhuang, Hebei Province.

On several occasions, Bai's wife and her brother tried to deliver some clothes to Bai, but officers at the camp forced them to curse Dafa and Master Li, otherwise the clothes would be thrown away. Bai has been illegally detained there for more than one month. Moreover, he has still not been permitted any family visits.

After Bai Canghong had been detained, officers of Hejian City did not care that his family was living in poverty. Instead, they constantly went to his home to disrupt their lives. They even tried to force Bai's wife to attend a brainwashing class. In this way a happy family has been broken without any legal procedure.
