GENEVA, April 10--Psychiatrists from the United States and Britain held a press conference today in Geneva to condemn China's use of psychiatry for political purposes. They focused on such abuse of Falun Gong practitioners, some of which has resulted in deaths. This was particularly timely, as the United Nations Human Rights Commission is in session in Geneva.
GENEVA, Apr 11, 2001 -- (Reuters) The United States on Wednesday presented a resolution accusing China of abuses including repressing its Tibetan minority and banned Falun Gong spiritual movement, and calling on Beijing to permit freedom of religion. The U.S. delegation submitted the text -- which also urged China to release all political prisoners and to eliminate its re-education through labor system -- to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. Practitioners gathered in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a couple of days of seminars to introduce Falun Dafa to the local people and to clarify the truth about the persecution in China. The exercises were taught to about 100 people in local parks and community centers. Practitioners found the Argentine people to have wonderful hearts. People are warm, friendly and very eager to learn Dafa.
