According to the December 31 report of Central News Agency (CNA) correspondent Mr. Zhang Shengzhao, Wang Xueliang, a Chinese international student at the University of Ottawa, was invited to attend a "New Year's movie party" at the Chinese Embassy. In fact, the party was an anti-Falun Gong exhibition in disguise. When Mr. Wang took pictures of the exhibition, he was approached and escorted into a room where he was seriously beaten. This brazen violence by the Chinese government on the soil of Canada shocked the Canadian Members of Parliament.
Ottawa Falun Gong practitioners have already submitted Wang Xueliang's medical report and related documents to the police department, Members of Parliament, and the Department of Foreign Affairs, and have also informed the media of this attack, while reserving the right to bring the Chinese Embassy to court.
Wang Xueliang, 25, an international student from China who is studying in an MBA program at the University of Ottawa, did not know in advance that the movie party was actually just an anti-Falun Gong exhibition. He arrived at 4:00 p.m., and then quickly realized that the Embassy had invited more than 300 students and Ottawa Chinese Presbyterians for the purpose of distributing their propaganda and demonizing Falun Gong. The exhibition was filled with literature and other anti-Falun Gong materials, and the MC of the party stated in an opening speech the goal of the event: to attack Falun Gong and show a movie.
When Chinese officials found out that Wang Xueliang told someone beside him that the anti-Falun Gong materials were fabricated, and took a picture of these materials as proof, they rushed over to him. They said it was forbidden to take pictures, and then a couple of young officials in suits came over and escorted him downstairs into a private room. Suddenly they knocked him almost unconscious with a blow to the head, and then began punching and kicking him.
One of the officials, said by Wang to be "about 23 or 24 and 1.70m tall," said to the other officials "You guys all get out, let me do the beating!" So the other officials stood at the door, letting this macho official take off his suit so that he would be better able to push, drag, and kick this innocent student. Wang's eyeglasses fell off in the struggle and his leather belt was broken.
Wang Xueliang urgently called out: "Stop beating me, stop beating me!" This seemingly well-trained official said, "This is Chinese land." He then looked at the other officials and yelled, "Who beat you, huh? Were there any witnesses?"
Before he came to Canada in November of 1999, Wang Xueliang had been detained twice in China for practicing Falun Gong. He told the media today that he could not understand how Chinese diplomats could export their violence onto Canadian soil. Wang could only describe as "pathetic" the attempts by the Chinese Embassy to "openly lie" and "incite hatred" with their fabricated materials.
After a 70-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner saw the exhibition, she said: "Falun Dafa practitioners could tell at first sight that these are all fabrications." Unexpectedly, the next day when she was attending a meeting of the Ottawa Chinese Presbyterian Church, she got a notice from the Church saying that she could not continue to be a member. Her annual membership fee was enclosed.
Later, this member learned that the only reason she was excluded was because she practices Falun Gong. She said she would fight this "unreasonable, illegal" decision to the end. After all, this is Canadian soil. There is also no article in the Presbyterian Church rules that forbids Falun Gong practitioners from being members.
