News from China
Westerner talks about China: In 1971, I visited China as a member of a group representing the Canadian government at the invitation of then Premier Zhou Enlai. The Chinese government showed us a video introducing the life style of the Chinese people, in which the people sit around a table and happily enjoy a luscious meal. We felt the video appeared to be so different from the rumors we heard in the West about poverty in China. Every time after our visit, we were arranged to eat a meal with factory leaders, and the meals often prompted our praise for the high quality of Chinese workers' lunch. Of course, at that time, we could not have possibly imagined that everything we saw in China was staged. It was not until several years after the Cultural Revolution had ended that I learned the truth.
Truth About Persecution
Appeal letter by all Falun Gong practitioners illegally detained in the Nanning City Shelter [a detention center] in Guangxi Province: The government officials kidnapped us and sent us here without any lawful grounds or proper procedures. Practitioners, including elderly men and women, students and whole families were arrested. Some were kidnapped when buying food at the market, and some were kidnapped right after being released from the labor camp, and five practitioners have been illegally detained for more than half a year. Right now, practitioners Pan Xiangyang and Liang Biyan are on their sixth day of a hunger strike. We strongly appeal to relevant governmental departments and leaders to truly pay attention to the people's rights, which are supposed to be protected by law from being violated. They should immediately release all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners.
Suffering countless tortures during a two-year labor camp detention; persist in Dafa cultivation with righteous thoughts and righteous actions. In 2000, I was illegally sentenced to one year in a labor camp for practicing Falun Dafa. My term was extended by one year, for I refused to betray Falun Dafa. I stayed in the labor camp for two years. I was released from the labor camp but could not yet return home. Instead, I was directly sent to Nanning City Detention Center. Now it has been over two months. I suffered all kinds of tortures for refusing to betray "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance." I was often tied up, hung up, beaten, tied on a tree, hit on my head with a shoe, had my mouth stuffed with dirty rags and sealed with tape. Sometimes, I was not allowed to sleep for several days in a row. I was tied on a tree during the night, where I was not allowed to close my eyes.
Practitioners Exchange Insights about Houston
"For where there is Evil / there is dark, dense haze." ("Cleaning Out") On October 26, the head evil used and supported Jiang's human shell to move around. According to news reports, Jiang already went to Mexico; however, rain still poured down in Houston, non-stop. This continuous rain caused many practitioners to be cautious. According to their own understandings, some practitioners went to the area of the Chinese consulate's residential compound; some exchanged experiences in hotels, studied the Fa and sent forth righteous thoughts. One thing that was brought to our attention: many practitioners mistakenly thought we couldn't do a sitting protest in front of the Chinese consulate unless we obtained a permit, but the actual situation was that in the U.S., anyone can protest or do a sitting protest in front of the consulate without a police permit if all laws regarding traffic and other rules are obeyed. Thinking about October 26, maybe certain things happened because some practitioners were not very determined in their hearts, they were relying on other practitioners or seeking comfort, which was taken advantage of by the demons. The pouring rain lasted for three days, from October 26 to October 28. We must have some omissions and have done something wrong. Our righteous thoughts we use to eliminate the remaining evil and our mighty powers that cleanses the universe should be consistent.
