At 2 a.m. on February 12, 2002, Dafa practitioner Jiang Honglu, in the company of a fellow practitioner, walked out into the streets of Mishan City. When they arrived at the west end of the Industrial Commercial Bank, they saw a squad car from the Political Security Section of the city Police Department. The policemen recognized the practitioners. Vice Head of the Political Security Section, Du Yongshan, got out of the car to arrest them. The practitioners saw that Du Yongshan was wearing a steel helmet, holding a handgun, running to catch them and shouting, "Stop!" The practitioners thought that they definitely could not be taken away by evil and immediately started running. Without firing a warning shot, Du Yongshan shot Jiang Honglu. Jiang fell to the ground. The other policeman rushed up as a crowd began to form and brutally beat Jiang Honglu. Later, Jiang Honglu was taken to the Political Security Section and illegally interrogated for over two hours. Only after the interrogation was he sent to a hospital. Jiang Honglu's left leg had been shot and he is still hospitalized. The Political Security Section didn't inform Jiang's family members and even forced his work unit to pay his hospital expenses. The police haven't allowed any visitors and arrest any who come. To cover up the cruel truth about the shooting, the police spread a rumor that forty Falun Gong practitioners had held a protest parade. They claimed that Jiang Honglu was shot while the parade was being broken up.

Li Xin was sent to forced labor camp for steadfastly practicing Falun Dafa. On January 10, 2002, Li started a hunger strike to protest and resist the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime. On January 28, Li Xin had been on a hunger strike for 18 days. He was in critical condition. His arms and legs felt weak and he experienced difficulty in breathing. His heartbeat reached 155 beats per minute. Eventually, the labor camp sent him to the Harbin City No. 2 Hospital from the labor camp for a physical exam. The doctor said, "His heartbeat is very rapid, which is extremely dangerous. He must be hospitalized for further examination." The team leader Gong Zhiqiang, who was standing nearby said, "He cannot be in hospital." Li Xin was sent back to the forced labor camp and immediately force-fed. The following day, Li Xin's heartbeat reached 186 times per minute, triggering the alarm of the machine that was monitoring his condition. Camp officials still refused to release him. Li Xin has been on a hunger strike now for 34 days. We urgently call on people from all walks of life to pay close attention to this matter.

At about 10:00 a.m. on January 30, 2002, thirty officials from Tieling City Police Department, the Political Security Office and the Hongqi Neighborhood Administration Office blocked the doorway of Pei Meiyu's home. They pounded on the door violently, threatened her savagely and tried to break into her home. In order to persecute this defenseless female Falun Gong practitioner, they mobilized all the officials of Tieling City Police Department and Yinzhou District Police as well as four police vehicles. Facing these threats, Pei Meiyu didn't cooperate with their persecution. She climbed down along a water pipe from a window on the 6th floor but fell from the 4th floor. As a result, her pelvis was severely fractured, and her left leg and three ribs were broken. During such critical circumstances, the vicious officials asked a reporter to videotape the scene. Pei Meiyu lost unconsciousness, and her life was in danger. She was later sent to a hospital. The Police Department is searching for her family members. Her husband Jin Yunpu, a Falun Gong practitioner, has been illegally detained in the No.2 Jail of Dabei Prison in Liaoning Province since his arrest in October 1999. Their 16-year-old child is left alone at home. Such a good family has been broken apart.

The police broke into and ransacked Pei Meiyu's home. In order to shirk responsibility, officials from the police department and the police station left immediately after Pei's relatives arrived. Pei Meiyu's relatives later asked officials of the police department, "Who will take responsibility? How could this happen if you didn't come to arrest her?" The officials didn't answer. Pei Meiyu's bill for the first operation, after the fall, was as high as 20,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly salary of an urban worker in China.]

I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Dadianzi in Tieling City, Liaoning Province. I have been illegally arrested three times and detained twice for clarifying the truth to the people of the world, that Jiang's regime is slandering Dafa. On September 2, 2001, I was illegally arrested by the Qiandian Police Station for clarifying the truth to people in Shuncheng District in Fushun City. Since I didn't cooperate with the evil police and refused to tell them my address, they beat me with my leather belt, not stopping until the belt broke. I still didn't cooperate with them so they hung me up by the handcuffs restraining my two arms behind me. They said that they would not release me until I told them my address. An hour later, both of my hands had become numb, my clothes were all wet and my wrists began to crack from being stretched. Finally, they seized the money I had been carrying (390 Yuan) without giving a receipt. On July 3, they sent me to Fushun City Detention Center. I was held there for 15 days. On the 16th day, Tieling County Police Department took me to the County Detention Center. After being detained for 30 days, I was held for another 2 months. Currently I am being indefinitely detained. I learned that in Qiandian Police Station, the perpetrators include a policeman named Wang and another named Zhang, who might be a director.

On February 4, 2002, practitioners from a city in Liaoning Province happily celebrated "Liaoning Falun Dafa Day." The creation of "Liaoning Falun Dafa Day" was an expression of the common aspirations of Dafa practitioners from Liaoning and from all over the world. On the morning of February 4, local practitioners hung up many Dafa banners and signs that said "Falun Dafa is Good." There were 4,000 all together, and they were hung up all over the streets and walkways of all the counties and towns. They were also in the countryside and on the mountain peaks. Police had discovered in advance that February 4 was Liaoning Falun Dafa Day. On the evening of February 3, police went to some practitioners' houses to interrogate them, but practitioners still stepped forward. Police cars were driving around while practitioners hung banners. A police car followed a group of practitioners but was driven away by the practitioners' righteous thoughts. A big banner, seven meters long and two meters wide, was hung from a highway overpass in plain sight of the many trucks and cars that were driving by. Practitioners in the countryside did not wait or depend upon others. They made some handwritten banners and hung them up as well.

This Fa-rectification activity shook the evil with mighty force.

[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Guangzhou City Shijing Town Xizhou North Road "Law School" Detains Dafa Practitioners

Peng Lin, an employee of the Guangzhou city government, was detained in a "law school" by the Guangzhou 610 Office (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems) last April because she insisted on practicing Falun Dafa. Her family was broken up by the government. The evil utilized her mother and brother, who had been deceived by the Jiang regime's lies about Falun Dafa. They were used to interfere with her on many occasions. Peng Lin has behaved honestly and is fearless. She has been detained for half a year.

Xu Ming is a teacher in Guangzhou. Xu has been detained many times because of going to Beijing to appeal. Currently Xu is still being detained in the "Law School".

At present there are many Guangzhou practitioners being detained illegally because they insist on cultivating Dafa. They have been deprived of personal freedom and their freedom of belief. The government's actions have severely infringed on their human rights. We hope this arouses the attention of the international community. We hope the fellow practitioners who read this news will send forth the righteous thoughts and wipe out the evil.

During Shanghai Falun Dafa Week, Shanghai practitioners adopted various means to validate Dafa and shake the evil with mighty force. However, a group of practitioners were arrested during this period. Some practitioners posted banners on overpasses, some went to the supermarket and the subway stations to post banners, while others distributed VCD's clarifying the truth.

Recently the Shandong Province Jining City 610 Office has collected the names of practitioners everywhere in the region. At the same time, they devote a large amount of manpower and material resources to ambush, monitor and search out Dafa practitioners. Several female practitioners over fifty years old were arrested while they distributed Dafa materials. They were detained in the Jining detention center. Currently they have been on hunger and water strike for almost one week. In addition, a handicapped practitioner named Li Ruifeng was illegally sent to the Wangcun Labor Camp in Zibo.

1. Chongqing women's labor camp hung up a nearly 60 year-old practitioner for 160 hours (more than six days) straight, forbidding her to sleep the entire time. Some practitioners have been hung up for over three months straight. During the daytime she was handcuffed beside the window of the office. At night she was handcuffed and hung up beside a bed. If she even closed her eyes, drug-addict criminal inmates would abuse her and poke at her eyelids with sharp objects.
2. The police utilized drug-addict criminal inmates to tightly monitor Dafa practitioners. The police encouraged the criminals to sit in the middle of a group of practitioners when they were reciting Teacher's articles and to harass them, preventing the practitioners from reciting the articles.

Some news sources said that the Wuhan Police Department was rigorously making arrangements.. They plotted to arrest a group of practitioners who were just released from a labor camp and send them to brainwashing classes. Also, each community was ordered to send practitioners to brainwashing classes. Practitioners arrested include Wang Li, Ye Chunfeng, Chen Meizhi, and Li Jili. It is said that if they do not cooperate with the brainwashing they will be thrown into jail.

[Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province] New Prison Set Up to Detain Practitioners

The police department, the procuratorial department, the legislative department and the judicial department of the City of Acheng in Heilongjiang Province collectively rented a military training center so that they could detain Falun Gong practitioners and brainwash them there. The first brainwashing class was held on February 16, 2000. The detained Falun Dafa practitioners clarified the truth of the persecution to the soldiers in the training center. When the soldiers learned the truth, they thought that Falun Dafa practitioners are the best people in the world.

Later on, the brainwashing center was evicted from the training center because the military needed their space back. They then rented the second floor of a school cafeteria where they held a second series of brainwashing classes. They also had iron doors, iron windows and iron locks installed and set up a temporary prison there where they detained about one hundred Falun Dafa practitioners. The prison was managed by the police department, and they forced the practitioners' relatives to pay a fee of 1,000 Yuan [about 2 months of salary for a worker in China] for tuition and 600 Yuan for food for each practitioner per one-month term. Practitioners were forced to endure news on TV, videotapes and newspapers that slandered Falun Gong.

The brainwashing center also brought the relatives of the Falun Gong practitioners in so that they could be used to pressure the practitioners into renouncing Falun Gong. As a result, every day the brainwashing classes were full of crying and shouting. People who had written a "reform statement" (renouncing Falun Gong) could pay less tuition or not pay at all. After the end of the term, if the practitioners still had not renounced Falun Gong, they would be sent directly to a detention center or a forced labor camp.

There was a practitioner from the township of Sheli in the city of Acheng who firmly believed in Falun Dafa and refused to write a "reform statement." He also could not afford the tuition fee, so the village secretary forced his father to sell his land to pay the fees of the brainwashing class. This practitioner was then sent directly to the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp for one year of forced labor.

Nine Falun Gong practitioners from the township of Sheli in the city of Acheng in Heilongjiang Province went to Beijing to appeal. After they came back, they were fined 2,000 to 5,000 Yuan by the local police stations of the Police Department of the city of Aching for "disturbing public order." The practitioners who were fined did not receive any receipt. Even though they paid the fine, three people were sent to a forced labor camp for a year of forced labor.

In related news, there was a Falun Dafa practitioner in the township of Sheli who was making dumplings at home on the eve of the 2001 Spring Festival, when people from the police station came to his home and asked him whether he still practiced Falun Gong. When he answered yes, he was taken away and sentenced to one year of forced labor on the charge of disturbing public order.

The Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in the city of Harbin began detaining Falun Gong practitioners since the latter part of 1999. To date, it has detained Falun Gong practitioners more than 300 times. About ten people received the longest sentence of three years while most received one year.

Since April 2001, the practitioners who were detained in this forced labor camp had always resisted the illegal persecution by going on hunger strikes and by other means of protest. Gao Ke and two other practitioners went on a hunger strike for the longest duration, which was more than 80 days. They were finally released in the end. More than 30 Falun Gong practitioners were released after going on hunger strikes. As the Fa-rectification process picks up speed, the evil forces in the forced labor camp also continuously weakens.

However, Shi Changjing, the deputy director of the forced labor camp still frenziedly suppresses Falun Dafa practitioners. Under his instigation and orders, many practitioners were beaten and abused by the common prisoners as well as the police officers. Dozens of practitioners have been locked up in small cells [described in figure 11 on the page: http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html.] In order to resist such malicious suppression, practitioners Kong Xiaohai and Ju Yajun went on hunger strikes but were tortured to death (Ju Yajun was sent back home in a police car when he was in critical condition and died the next day). More than a dozen other practitioners were also sent back home when their lives were in critical condition, and it is not clear whether they are still alive now.

Several days ago in the city of Siping, about 8 or 9 people, including Sun Jupeng, the secretary of Political and Judiciary Committee, Gao Jingtao, the vice secretary, another woman from the "610" office and people from the TV station set up an interview with the director of the neighborhood administration office on Tiedongqi street, Ms. Xu. Xu had casually practiced the Falun Gong exercises for several days some time ago. They offered her some rice and a gift to bribe her so that she would say slanderous statements about Falun Dafa while being videotaped. Sun Jupeng left hurriedly after those sitting beside him all laughed at the video as they felt that the lies were so ridiculous. They fabricated the news to be broadcast to the entire city to deceive people. After this was over, Xu realized that her words had brought serious damage to Dafa. She was very distressed and talked about it with other people, crying bitterly about her shameful act of cooperating with the evil.

The government lures people into lying by offering them rewards so that they can fabricate news and use other despicable means to deceive people. They have openly slandered the Buddha Fa, which harms other people and harms themselves. It is such an enormous crime!

Fu Benhua is the director of the Education Committee in the city of Guangshui in Hubei Province. He heads the criminal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in the city's educational system. On February 2, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Peng Xinghua, a retired middle school teacher in Guangshui was abducted from her home without cause by the Guangshui Police Department and sent to jail. After the arrest, Fu Benhua even phoned the police department to say, "It is good that you arrested Peng Xinghua. You have my support." On February 8, the director of the police department had signed for the release of Peng Xinghua and issued the release document, but Fu Benhua wanted to extend Peng's persecution. He called a policeman and told him, "I beg you to do a good deed and not release Peng Xinghua." Even though Peng Xinghua had already been detained in the forced labor camp for more than half a year, Fu Benhua continued to actively follow the evil forces. He reduced Peng's salary and withheld it for 16 months while she was being detained. He treated all Falun Dafa practitioners in the city's educational system similarly.
