On April 5, 2002, the Melbourne China Research Society in Australia held a
Falun Gong Seminar. Over 40 members of the group attended the seminar. Mr.
Matthew Noonan of the History Department of University of Melbourne made a
keynote speech entitled "Exploring Falun Gong, a medicinal and spiritual
practice". He gave an detailed speech covering several topics such as Falun
Gong's health benefits, how to look at the Falun Gong phenomenon, and the
history and the main principles of Falun Gong.
After the keynote speech, the attendees discussed topics that they were
concerned with, such as why the Jiang regime persecutes Falun Gong; whether the
Tiananmen self-immolation incident was a set-up and how labor camps brainwash
Falun Gong practitioners, and how Falun Gong differs from other Qigong schools.
Seven practitioners participating in the seminar clarified many
misunderstandings. The experience of Jennifer Zhang, who was detained in forced
labor camp for one year, shocked the attendees. They expressed their willingness
to help and support Falun Gong.
The China Research Society is an active professional society in Melbourne.
The members are mainly consisted of people in academic fields. They chose Falun
Gong as their topic this time. More and more people have come to know Dafa.
