Many strange phenomena have occurred in China in the last two years. What do these strange phenomena mean?
- In 2001, outbreaks of locusts occurred in fifteen provinces and autonomous regions in China including Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Hainan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and Guangdong, devastating 7,700,000 hectares of crops. There is an ancient saying, "Locust plague is due to the cruelty and greed of the government officials." The saying compared the merciless and voracious locusts to the government officials at the time.
- On May 30, 2001, the weather in the city of Shijiazhuang suddenly changed from many consecutive hot days to very cold conditions. The scenic spot Wuyuezhai in Lingshou County even experienced a heavy snowstorm. There is an ancient saying, "There must be an irredeemable injustice if snow falls in June." May 30 was the day Falun Gong practitioner Zuo Zhigang was persecuted to death by Shijiazhuang Police Department and the local "610 Office."
- Dust storms are also often regarded as warnings from heaven. People will never forget the two most severe dust storms in recent Chinese history. One occurred in the 1960's during the "Cultural Revolution," and the other one started in July 1999 and still continues.
