About 200 Falun Gong practitioners from around the world marched through downtown Houston Friday
to protest the treatment of their [fellow practitioners] in China.
"We want to let people know about the persecution of Falun Gong in China," said Yim Wong,
a practitioner from Melbourne, Australia.
The practitioners are holding a conference here through Sunday.
The protesters included Jane Dai and her 3-year-old daughter, Fadu, whose father was tortured and
killed after being detained by the Chinese government for being a Falun Gong practitioner, according
to the group.
Babies in strollers and children were among the protesters. Falun Gong has organized a movement
called "Petals of Peace," in which children learn to fold origami flowers as a form of
protest against the Chinese government.
Falun Gong is a form of meditation and exercise used by people in more than 50 countries.
