Laurent Henart.
MP of Meurthe-et-Moselle,
Vice Mayor of Nancy City,
Nancy. July 16th 2003.
Dear Madame,
You requested me to pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
As a member of the Tibetan issues research group at the national assembly, I am particularly concerned about the issue of human rights in the People's Republic of China.
I completely share your reasonable anxiety over this intolerant evil behaviour. I hope to submit a question, in written form, to the Foreign Minister, Mr. Dominique de Villepin, to ensure that your appeal to the government leads to a concrete result.
I am willing to offer you any help, Madame, Please accept my good wishes.

Question in the Written Form
To The Foreign Minister:
Laurent Henart would like to make a proposal to the Foreign Minister to pay attention to the
crackdown on Falun Gong followers in the People's Republic of China. Falun Gong is a cultivation
method beneficial to life and health, combined with the practice of exercises and meditation based
on belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." This is a feature of Chinese
civilization and culture. However, since 1999, the Chinese authorities have adopted a policy to
inflict almost systematic persecution on Falun Gong practitioners, including arrests, detention,
torture, forced labour, education, and imprisonment in mental hospitals. This kind of policy means
the apparent violation of freedom of belief, expression and assembly, which are composite parts of
basic human rights. Therefore, this policy also apparently violates the World Human Rights
Declaration signed by China in 1948. Laurent Henart asks the Foreign Minster about what kind of
political and diplomatic method our government is taking to improve the Chinese leader's stance on
respecting human rights.
