(Clearwisdom.net) In the middle of October 2003, Falun Gong practitioners came to the Northern Peruvian cities of Chimbote and Chiclayo to introduce Falun Gong and raise awareness of the persecution against Falun Gong in China.

The visit to Chimbote was well covered by local media. Local newspaper Diario De Chimbote first interviewed practitioners in the morning, and then two radio stations (Radio De Programas and Radio RSD) reported practitioners' exercise demonstration and volunteer teaching at the Downtown Plaza live in the afternoon. Many people showed great interest in Falun Gong and asked many questions about how to learn.
The visit to Chiclayo was also very successful. We can see people were very eager to learn the Fa. Right after practitioners set up posters, people swarmed around us asking for Dafa fliers. In the first two days, five local radio stations came to the event site to do live broadcasts of our event. Local TV station TV Panamericana Canal 9 also interviewed us on the first day and aired it in next days' morning news. Three local newspapers also covered our event. During these interviews, practitioners not only introduced Falun Gong to the media, but also talked about the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong.
Because the newspaper published the schedule and location of Falun Gong Free Classes, many people came to learn in the afternoon of the third day. Though all the 5 practitioners were teaching, we were still shorthanded. After learning the five sets of exercises, many people didn't want to leave and wanted to know more about Falun Gong. Some wanted to take pictures with practitioners as souvenirs; some joined our next class to go over the exercises again.
When we walked on the streets of Chiclayo, people who recognized us often exclaimed: "Falun Dafa," and some stopped and asked for fliers. Taxi drivers would honk their horns once and give us the "thumbs-up" sign.
