(Clearwisdom.net) In April 1999, He Zuoxiu published an article slandering Falun Gong in the Youth Reader magazine in Tianjin City. Falun Gong practitioners went to the magazine agency to clarify the facts. On April 23 and April 24, police beat the practitioners and illegally arrested 45 practitioners. Practitioner Li Xiaomei from Beijing went to Tianjin and was arrested, but was later released. After the Tianjin incident, Li Xiaomei's cell phone was monitored, and police followed her. She stopped all contact with her family and lived on her own in order to protect her fellow practitioners and the large number of Dafa books at her home. After April 25, 1999 the authorities tried to harm her by staging a car accident. They put foreign objects into the tires of her car, but she found out in time. Around June 1999, the perpetrators illegally arrested and detained her in the Xiangshan Hotel in Beijing. They watched her around the clock and tried to force her to make a videotape. She knew they wanted to slander Dafa through her so she firmly refused. Later, they sent her to Division Seven of the Beijing Police Department. In mid January 2000 they transferred her to the Dongcheng District Detention Center. She was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison, and her sister Li Xiaobing was sentenced to six years in prison.
