"Britain's transfer of Hong Kong was agreed on the basis of continuation of traditional rights of residents to basic freedoms, and like many MPs I'm very concerned about the reports on these proposals. I hope that the campaign will be successful in getting the most objectionable elements of the proposals changed, and wish today's meeting every success in exerting peaceful pressure."
