(Clearwisdom.net) On Saturday, April 5, 2003, a group of Falun Dafa practitioners from around the state of Washington came to Whitman College, situated in the small town of Walla Walla. The practitioners participated in the college's annual "Block Party" event, during which various residential houses on campus host booths, games, and activities for students, prospective students and their parents.
Before the "Block Party" started, the practitioners sat down on a nearby lawn, sent righteous thoughts, and demonstrated the 5 sets of exercises to passersby, many of whom stopped to ask questions.
The practitioners set up the booth at around 3 p.m. As the tape recorder was turned on, the soothing music of Pudu and Jishi filled the immediate vicinity as practitioners demonstrated the exercises. Later, some students told the practitioners that they really enjoyed the music. A blind lady asked her husband to lead her to the booth; she wanted to find out about us. The booth was maintained for a little over 4 hours, during which time many informational flyers, truth-clarifying CDs, and copies of Compassion and Witness to History were handed out. Upon hearing about Dr. Charles Li's illegal detainment in China, almost every student and local person gave their signatures. Many people were glad to hear about Falun Gong and wished to find out more about it. Some students thanked the practitioners for coming to their college, showing them this amazing practice, and informing them of the unjust treatment its practitioners have suffered in China. A couple of Whitman College's Chinese scholars and students came by the booth, looked at the posters, and talked with practitioners. We used this opportunity to clarify the truth to them.
At 8 p.m., five practitioners held a question and answer segment at one of the school's auditoriums. Participants watched the truth clarifying video "The Peaceful Journey." Afterwards, two practitioners taught some of the audience members the five Falun Gong exercises and answered more of their questions. The atmosphere was one of peace and mutual respect, and it concluded at around 10 p.m.
