(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Zhu Xuezhi, and I'm a businessman and Falun Gong practitioner from Denmark.
On May 5th, 2003, I went to the Chinese Embassy in Denmark to apply for the renewal of my passport. After I filled out an application and submitted all of the documents required, I was given a receipt with a note reading "wait for notification by phone." Since it didn't specify a date to pick up my passport (usually within 10 working days), I asked the clerk when I could pick it up. He told me that he had no idea.
After 20 days had gone by, I still had not received a phone call from the Chinese Embassy so I went there to ask for the result. The clerk said: "We cannot grant your application," and then returned my old passport and application form. When I asked him why this was so, he said that it was because I practice Falun Gong, which is illegal in China. He also mentioned that it is China's policy not to process passport applications that are filed by Falun Gong practitioners. When I asked him to give me a written explanation, he said: "Apart from an oral notification, I cannot provide you with anything."
I said that the passport represents my legal identity, and it is my intrinsic right as a citizen. Falun Gong is to help people become decent persons with kind hearts. It is different from the lies that the Chinese government has fabricated in its vicious propaganda. Before 1999, Falun Gong practitioners were everywhere in China. It is solely because of the dictator Jiang Zemin's personal jealousy that Falun Gong has been cruelly persecuted.
The official then complained about our peaceful appeals in front of the Chinese Embassy to call for an end to the killing and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners (Some practitioners and I have maintained a sitting meditation in front of the Chinese Embassy every day since last April). I told him that if it had not been for the Chinese Government launching the brutal persecution of Falun Gong, we would not have staged the sitting meditation there. He didn't want to talk with me any further, and said that he was only asked to tell me the decision, and that if I give up practicing Falun Gong, or promised to do so, they may consider granting my application. I smiled, and said: "I will not do so because the persecution of Falun Gong is wrong. Injustice cannot last long, and the truth of Falun Gong will be clear one day. I hope you are able to make use of the opportunity to work overseas to learn the truth about Falun Gong.
Falun Gong is a cultivation practice, which raises moral standards based on the universal principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." I am just an ordinary Chinese citizen who wants to become a decent person with high moral standards through cultivation, so as to do some good in society. Am I wrong? Their refusal to renew my passport could make it impossible for me to get my visa extended in Denmark, and I will be unable to leave the country as well. As a matter of fact, they are extending their domestic persecution to foreign democratic countries, and carrying out a form of the persecution there.
Actually, a person's identity exists on the day he is born. It is a kind of natural human right, and it is also the most basic protection a government should provide for its citizens. In actuality, it is a well known legal principle that no matter what a person has done, regardless of whether it conforms to the government's wishes or not, that government should not regard it as a condition in issuing certificates of identification. It is unfortunate, that the government of such a big country has abused its power and has taken revenge on its citizens by withholding their rights of subsistence. Besides, what I am doing now is nothing more than elevating my own moral standard according to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." This practice is welcomed in over 50 countries around the world.
After this long period of bloody persecution, which has lead to over a thousand innocent and kind-hearted people losing their lives, Falun Gong practitioners in the United States and many other countries have launched a lawsuit against the Chinese dictator Jiang on the charge of genocide. Justice will prevail eventually.
Last year, when Jiang visited the U.S., he was so frightened of meeting Falun Gong practitioners that he dared not enter a luxurious hotel through its main entrance. Instead, he went in through the passage reserved for garbage trucks. That was shameful. Evil is afraid of goodness; although the dictator was protected by many of his guards, the fear in his heart of these peaceful and non-violent people was still the same.
But, why do people working in Chinese Embassies in foreign countries still faithfully carry out Jiang Zemin's instructions? They have an opportunity to witness and learn the truth of Falun Gong and they have an opportunity to know the atrocities committed by Jiang. Now more and more government officials and kind-hearted people in Mainland China have come to know the difference between right and wrong, and would like to take the initiative to protect and help Falun Gong practitioners' relatives and friends. The Canadian government is also helping Canadian Falun Gong practitioners rescue their relatives in Mainland China. But what are Embassy Officials doing? When the historical trial takes place, can you be pardoned if you were to say that you were forced by Jiang to do his evil? Would you like to be taken down with him? Please be responsible to yourself, and contemplate this seriously!
I am appealing to the Chinese government to stop the brutal persecution and killing of Falun Gong practitioners.
I also appeal to have the right to my identity restored!
