Zhang Xiaohe, a 23-year-old woman and resident of Gulang County of Wuwei City, Gansu Province, refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa, and for this her admission to college was nullified by the Gulang County Police Department. The police went to her home many times, attempting to force her to give up cultivation. She was forced to leave home and go from place to place from 2000 to 2002.
In September 2002, she lost a lot of weight because of the long period of persecution and only weighed about 70 Jin [1 Jin = 1.1 lb)). In October 2002, a fellow practitioner helped her return home. Even when she could hardly speak, the police from Gulang County and Wuwei City still tried to force her to answer their questions by nodding or shaking her head. Because of the long period of persecution, her body could not endure any longer. On the twentieth day after she returned home, she passed away at such a young age.
Zhao Changju, a woman in her 40's and resident of Gulang County of Wuwei City, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in January 2000 and was then illegally abducted many times and held at the Gulang County Detention Center. In January 2001, she went to Beijing to appeal again and was illegally sent to the Ping'antai Forced Labor Camp in Gansu Province for a year. During that period, she was frequently beaten and tortured by the police. In January 2002, her term expired, and she was allowed to go home. In May 2002, she was again illegally abducted and detained at the Gulang County Detention Center. Today she continues to be subjected to inhumane persecution.
Li Huanyin, a 22-year-old resident of Gulang County of Wuwei City, was illegally abducted from his home in February 2003 and detained in the Gulang County Detention Center. Today this innocent, kind-hearted young man is still in the detention center, enduring beatings and torture from police and criminals for not giving up his belief in "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance."
