High walls, handcuffs and chains, and torture cannot break Dafa practitioners' will
A large group of Dafa practitioners are being illegally held in Changchun City No. 3 Detention Center. They were all sentenced to 8 to 15- year terms with trumped up charges. They refuse to acknowledge the sentences and are appealing. They have suffered from countless tortures, including having their hands and feet cuffed together and not being allowed to walk, eat, or go to the restroom, shocks from electric batons, beating and cursing, and personal insults, all just for asking for their rights to practice their beliefs and do the exercises. When practitioner Zhang Fan persisted in her hunger strike, she was force-fed, which damaged her esophagus and caused infection, putting her life in danger. In order to force her to give up her belief, the police subjected her to the torture of "big hanging up", nailed bamboo spikes into her flesh, stabbed her fingertips with needles, and dropped acid into her nose. After they resorted to all kinds of methods, the jail guards had to admit that Falun Gong is too powerful, that the practitioners are not afraid of them. Each of the practitioners has been through severe tortures, and has scars and marks left on their bodies. [Big hanging up: Each hand is cuffed to different bunk bed, then the beds are pulled apart, causing extreme pain.]
High walls cannot block the practitioners' will to promote Dafa and save sentient beings
Practitioners Li Zhexiu, Yan Huawei, Liu Yaqian, Zhao Wufeng, Zhao Xinmei, Liu Xiu'e and others memorized Master's articles and Zhuan Falun. They encouraged each other and also recited them to the criminal inmates there, telling them the principles for being a good person, which benefited a lot of the inmates. The criminal inmates even helped the practitioners to promote Dafa or transcribe articles. One inmate tore her new white suit into pieces. Without any pen, she bit one of her fingertips and transcribed the articles with her blood. They said to Dafa practitioners, "For the purpose of holding up the principles of the universe your detention is honorable; however, we are here because of greed, which is shameful. We envy you all very much. From now on we want to be new people. We were destined to come here to obtain the Fa, which is really a good fortune amidst the misfortune."
The harsh environment cannot change Dafa practitioners' unshakeable will
Due to their long-term captivity, some practitioners lost contact with their families. Some of their family members have also been illegally detained. Some practitioners were forced to divorce so they lost financial support. Some were detained in the summer, so when autumn and winter came, they did not have clothes to protect them from the cold. Some were detained in the autumn or winter so when summer came, they did not have clothes to change and wash. Some stayed in damp cells and could not see the sunshine, so scabies was everywhere on their bodies. They ate steamed buns made of cornmeal that were moldy and undercooked. In winter, they ate spoiled frozen potato and radish skin soup that had an unbearable smell. In winter, the wall was covered with ice. They had to drink cold water throughout the year and use icy water to wash their bodies. In addition, most of them have severe internal damage or external wounds. They got through the ordeal relying on their firm belief in Dafa. They formed a united entity, and shared the limited food and clothes. They faced evil with a smile. They wrote poems and drew paintings. Practitioner Li Zhixiu is known as a talented woman. Many criminals have asked Dafa practitioners to leave them poems to memorize.
Dafa practitioners are selfless. They still help others, even in this difficult environment. When a newcomer has no basic living supplies, they will offer their help. They do not discriminate against any person and are very generous in meeting other people's needs.
